An Ornament Card

3:00 AM 1 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here playing along with this weeks challenge Red & Green. I chose to create an ornament with the Circle Stacker Die and assorted shaped dies and doilies.  Below is a brief tutorial with all the tips.

I  began by aging the papers that I die cut with ink and layered them along with the Dancing Snow Flurries.

I created pine branches on brown jute strung. I began by straightening and stiffening the string with a coating of lacquer.

Once straight, I spun the lollipop strips onto the jute string in a fashion to create pine branches.

The circle  die cut was also aged with ink and then smeared with red oil pastel to create a dimensional ball shape. The "ball" was attached to the card base with foam tape and the pine branches and poinsettias were attached with lacquer. a pine cone was created with a cutie die and lacquered to create shine. poinsettias and the bow and pine cone topped the "ball"

Bit of This and That with Rhonda

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Monday greetings to all of our crafty friends!  Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

My card that I have to share with you today was inspired by a few scraps laying on my table.  I had the burlap border scrap and the green scalloped French Flair shape staring at me and wanted to use them. I started with those pieces and added a bit here and there to it.

Have you seen the darling Tags 1 and Tags 2 dies that Cheery Lynn Designs has? I think they are so fantastic and the perfect accent! They were mixed up so I had a variety of tag shapes and the string is a little different on each for interest.

You can see the gear tucked in behind my flowers here.

Sometimes I like to cut apart pieces of the borders or flourishes to use them in different ways.  You'll see those little hearts and they were cut from the Sophia's Heart Border die.  I then used the scallops above and below the little green tag as you can see above.

Irina inspired me to try and shape my medium rose a little differently. Stay tuned as she shares with us a tutorial later this week on how she does her amazing roses!

Doilies and Flowers by Susan Longman

3:30 AM 3 Comments
Hi Susan Longman here, today I am sharing a layout created using some of the gorgeous doily and flower dies that Cheery Lynn has to offer.

“Love you” layout by Susan LongmanSusan Longman20_1

Using the beautiful English Tea Party Doily as a backdrop for my picture, I layered it over several panels of DP and two white Horizon Coved Rectangles.  I added just a bit of ink to the lacy edge of the Coved Rectangles.

Susan Longman20_2

Using my Medium Rose die, I stacked and shaped the petals adding a bit of ink along the edges to create the white roses.

Susan Longman20_3

For the gold flowers, I used my Gardenia Strip, just molding and layering for a gorgeous full flower.  Adding some white Fanciful Flourishes completed my layout.

I hope you like this and it inspires you to use your dies on layouts too.  Be sure to check out this week's Lace challenge for a chance to win a $20 shopping credit at Cheery Lynn Designs.

Have fun creating… Susan

Cheery Cards Using the Shasta Daisy Strip!

7:30 AM 11 Comments
Hi everyone, it's me Gabrielle here today sharing with you my final projects as guest designer this month for Cheery Lynn Designs.  It's been such an enjoyable month creating with all these beautiful die cuts!  For my final projects I thought I would play a little more with the Shasta Daisy Flower strip!  I thought I would change things up a bit and use the strip on two types of paper, regular card stock and some vellum, so that I could make a bloom with layers that you could see through.

To make this flower I cut 2 of the largest blooms on the strip out of pink vellum, and 2 of the same size from a soft pink card stock.  I used a good white gel pen (my favourite is the Signo Unibal pen, it works very well on vellum) to make little dots fading out from the center of the bloom (you only need to add the dots on the top 2 sheer layers).  And finally added an adhesive pearl center to finish the bloom.  I used a couple of cuts from the Tropical Flourish coming out from behind the bloom cluster to add a little dramatic flourish to the finished card.

For my second card I again used the Shasta Daisy Strip and combined it with Manon's Wedding Garland die cut.  This die cut has a pretty lacy oval design and a couple of pretty floral cuts in it as well.....here is what the die cut looks like...
I love that you don't end up wasting paper when you use this die cut, ...you get the lacy oval design and you get the extra floral bloom accents as well!

To make the daisy's above I just cut out 2 large and 2 of the next size down....I tinted the centers of the medium size blooms with some green chalk ink and finished with a gem accent.  For the smallest daisy I used 3 of the smallest cuts layered.

It's been such a pleasure being guest designer for the month of September, I hope you've enjoyed my projects as much as I've enjoyed creating them!  I want to thank BJ for her kind generosity and thank Lori Williams for her patient help in getting me organized for the month! xo

Thank You With Cheery Lynn Designs

3:30 AM 0 Comments
CLD dies are so easy to combine to create intricate layers - I used one of our intricate frame dies and paired it with one of the new Doily Stackers for a beautiful result.  The flower was made with the Black Eyed Susan Strip and the leaves were cut from the Fall Leaf Mesh Border.

Hearts and Flowers

3:30 AM 2 Comments

I am back today to share another lovely card using Cheery Lynn Designs' gorgeous dies! The intricate designs work so well together, and then add in a handmade flower and it's pure bliss!  I used the Sweet Williams die for my flower, and always love how it turns out.  This is a 6 x 6 traditional folded card - nothing fancy, the layout of the card just tricks the eye a little.

(This is the same card, just a different angle, so the lighting is different)

I do hope that you will join us at our challenge this week, where the theme is Hearts a Glow.  One winner will be chosen to receive a $20 store credit. I even tucked in a few hearts on my card by using the Sophia's Heart border.

Thankful for You!

3:30 AM 12 Comments
Hi everyone, it's me Gabrielle Pollacco with you here today as guest designer for the month of September!  I was so happy to be asked to be a guest of Cheery Lynn's Designs, I've been admiring their beautiful die cut designs for some time now so I was thrilled to find out I could use them with my Revolution die cutting machine!

For my first project this month I thought I would do a layout using a variety of the dies. They have such amazing 'build your own' flower dies which allow you to make one large, full, frilly bloom or if you break them up like I did, you can make a few blooms in different sizes.

I basically went with a large, medium and small floral design using the Shasta Daisy B-310 die cut.  I used 1 large + 2 medium to make a large bloom, 2 medium + 1 Small to make the medium bloom and 3 small cuts to make the small bloom.  I used some green chalk ink to tint the centers of the blooms to give them a slight color depth and finished it by adding a soft yellow gem to the center. I also used one of the Lace Corner Deco B - B162 pieces to give a lacey accent around my flower cluster. and a piece of the gorgeous Fanciful Flourish B-117 to finish the cluster.

For my other floral cluster I used a design technique that is a favourite of mine to use and that is to softly ink the area around the cluster and add a mask with some texture paste.  Here I used a script mask.  This helps draw focus into the main embellishments on the page and draw the eye into the photo.

Another die that I'm crazy about is the Ivy Corner Flourish B315.  This die cut is awesome for frame and underscoring.  Here I used it to frame the floral patterned paper that I layered onto the page and also used it to underscore the title.

Another beautiful die that I just knew I had to have was the Window A FRM-141, it just adds such a light, airy, summery design to a page!  I added a lace 'curtain' to the design by adding the Anastasia Border B-136 along the top edge of the window panes.  I also used the lace edge along the bottom of the photo and peeking out from the pulled back paper edge at the top of the page.

I also used another one of the Lace Corner Deco B-162 die cuts to create a corner/border design to go all around the edges of the layout.  I simply adhered the corners onto the background paper and then used a white Signo Unibal gel pen to draw a doodled line to link them up.

I hope you all enjoyed my project for today!  And I look forward to sharing more fun projects with you in the upcoming weeks!

Vintage Christmas

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Today's Cheery Lynn card is one that I have just fallen in love with.  First I'm using the latest Christmas collection from KaiserCraft, St. Nicholas.  It has such a great vintage feel that compliments my style of card perfectly and really goes nice with my die cuts.

I love the way the handmade poinsettias show their veins from the die.  It adds to the realistic look of the flowers.  Cheery Lynn Dies make it so easy to just layer and layer and come up with some fantastic creations.

Here is a complete list of all the dies used on this card, so you can create your own.  Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week.

Hugs, Lori

Frosty Village

3:30 AM 7 Comments

Hi and Good Morning everyone, Alison here again today, sharing a Christmas card created using more of the gorgeous new release dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

I used a 7 x 5 blank card base for this, and I cut a strip vertically from the front panel, so it shows the underneath of the card.  I used some of my favourite frosty printed card on the front and inside, and then attached the beautiful Tiffany Border for a lacey edge.

I coloured my image with PM's, and matted and layered onto Oval Stackers and Scalloped oval stackers and cut the Italian Flourish doily (which looks like a beautiful snowflake to me) in half to frame the oval with a delicate background.

The bottom of the card is decorated with the stunning Winter Neighbourhood Border and the top of the card shows the fabulous Santa's Sleigh & Reindeer.  The white poinsetta flowers were inked delicately with blue and dipped into frosty glitter, and I added snow paste, glitter and pearls for a finishing touch.

All dies used on this card are:

B324 - Poinsetta Flower Strip
B137 - Tiffany Border
B326 - Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer
B323 Winter Neighbourhood Border
DL103 - Italian Flourish Doily
L-7 - Oval Stackers
XL - 8 - Oval Scalloped Stackers

Thanks so much for visiting our blog today, and I hope you find time to join us in our challenge where our theme is Frame It.

Have a smashing week!
