Happy Halloween Card with Corina Finley

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hello Everyone!

Happy Halloween! Corina here with you today, to share my Halloween Card.

I used the new Royal Scandinavian Doily. I inked the die cut purple and cut it in half. Adhered it on both the left and right side of the French Flair Classic Stacker die cut.

The best part of the new doily dies is that they are so versatile. Just change the colour to suit the occasion!

I used the horizon fishtail banner (my favorite as you know!) for my sentiment. I have to thank Nancy Hill (from a past Cheery Lynns Challenge 154 - Black and Orange) for the idea of the sentiment!

SWEET CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION WITH ANITA KEJRIWAL

3:30 AM 2 Comments
A big hello to all....
Hi,  Its Anita here for weekly wednesday post. Once again , I'm bringing to you a new release die from Cheery Lynn. This month, a whole new range of intricate dies have been released and yes !!! they are so versatile.  The doily dies are divided into two parts and can be mix and matched and even used with other dies.

For my card, I cut out a hinged front from the Heart French Flair Boutique stacker frames from black card stock. I cut another piece in white and layered it inside the card after distressing it with evergreen bough distress ink. Then I cut medium piece from the second stacker frame and layered in the front again .  This I kept white in order to high light the new doily die.  Then I cut a circle in black placed on top of the new circle doily. On this, I placed the smallest part of the stacker frame. Then I put the second centre portion of the doily.  This I distressed with Ever green bough  Here, I have put some pearls to decorate the centre.  The flowers are cut and made from the Judy's Blooms die. I have coloured the flowers and leaves from Distress inks.

Zooming by with a simple hi!

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here sharing three of the new release dies. The first is the On the Road motorcycle die...this is just beautiful. The scrollwork in the detail is elegant and is perfect for a manly card but could also be used for a lady biker! I also use one of my favorite new dies...the SAY WHAT? set. The thought bubbles in this set are so versatile! Not only could you use them for their intent, but they make great "clouds of smoke" or clouds for scenes, running animals, bikes that go zooming by! LOVE!

And then finally I used my most favorite doily!!! The Florence Filigree can be used several different ways. Today I cut the doily twice without the center die--once in red and once in orange. I used the orange base and I punched out the "negative space" of the red doily and placed it into the holes of the orange doily. These little swirly twigs would make a great wreath or background "twigs" for floral bunches. I like the way the red and orange kinda of resemble flames. In cutting without the center, I created a solid space for my motorcycle.

White on White Elegance

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Sandy here with an elegant white on white card.  I used limited supplies on this card; an embossing plate, a border and the center of one of our new doilies.  I began with a card base, 4.25 x 5.5 inches.  Using my Hearts and Rose Leaves embossing plate, I dry embossed a panel 4 x 5.25 inches and centered it onto the card base.

I cut a piece of card stock, 2.25 inches square then die cut the center from my Lords & Commons Doily die.  I added small marks on the back of my die so I could line it up straight.  These new doilies are lots of fun to play with.  In addition to the traditional outer doily, you get a removable center die.  It only cuts out the pattern, not the outer edge so you can cut windows with it, use a circle die around the outer edge or use it on your doily for a full pattern.

You can see the beauty of the dies when combined together, quite elegant.

Lastly I added my Southern Charm Valance across the bottom of the card, adding some pearl accents.  This card has a nice low profile for mailing.

Ornate Vintage Card by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend, it's Julie here today. This week I decided to showcase the versatility of one of my latest favourite dies from our newly released Doily Collection called Alpine Flourish Doily.

This die comes as a set of 2. You have the option to have a solid centre or use the ornate centre in the middle of your doily. For my card this time, I opted to have the solid centre as I wanted to stamp and mount a verse to place on it using the card maker die, this also fits perfectly as a mount to the back of my Alpine Flourish.

You will notice the ornate sides on my card are die cut using the centrepiece from my doily. I then mounted onto my plain card stock to make my design pop forward.

My flower and leaves were shaded with distress inks and mounted onto the Italian Flourish Mini Doily. I die cut out 2 doilies and made a cut into the centre on both of them. Next folding back and forward in a concertina style, I glued them together at the edges to form the full circle again.

I added a little stickles and distress around the edge and pearls to finish.

Army Card with Corina Finley

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Hello and Happy Friday!

Corina here with you today to share my Army card that I created using some of the new Cheery Lynn Design Dies from the October 15th release!

Before I talk about the dies I used, I wanted to share a technique I used using the Gauze Border die as a stencil.

I die cut the Gauze Border out of scrap paper. I then placed the border die cut on top of my Kraft card stock that I wanted to use on my card. I applied ink in a light colour (off white) direct to paper. Heat set and then moved the die/stencil slightly to the left and using my ink blending tool - I applied my green and brown ink tones. Remove my stencil and WOW! I absolutely love the effect it gave!

I used the New Army set - These dies are not just for the Armed forces but I will be using mine on masculine themed cards and on my scrapbook pages for my boys!

Above is a Tank from the set which comes with four other dies. A helmet, the word Army which is shown above, a helicopter and Army Truck.

The I Spy die is going to be a great accent on nature cards. I live in Northern British Columbia, so outdoor/hunting activities are very popular here. I know that I will use this die quite a bit!

DELICATE DOILIES WITH ANITA KEJRIWAL

3:30 AM 7 Comments
Hello to all!!!!

Today I bring to you a very simple card that highlights the new release doily dies.  The beauty of this card lies in the simple use of doilies with a square design. Yes!!!!! these are square shaped doilies. and it has detachable centre that can be used on paper to cut out individual mini doilies or even create a tile like pattern that I have done in my card here,

For my card , I have cut out two pieces of Royal Scandinavian Square doily and placed both together as shown. Before that , I distressed the centre of one die cut with distress inks.
For the tile pattern below, I placed the centre small square piece on a card stock, adhered it with scotch tape and cut through my die cut machine. Then I placed that same die next to this cut pattern and run through the machine again. This I repeated again to get this pattern.
Some ribbon and a simple sentiment and there you are !!! A card with such intricate cut work can be made in minutes. That is the beauty of these dies. They make simple cards look elegant.
So do have a look and enjoy the intricate details of this beautiful die.

Popup Surprise Match Boxes

3:00 AM 4 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here sharing a fun Pop Up box with the match box dies! To create these you need the matchbox, a spring (I borrowed mine from a dried up click pen), something to "spring up", and some embellishments.

You create your matchbox and embellish with some dies or a bow and a bead pull for the drawer.

You will need to "adhere" your spring into your drawer and to your popup image. I embedded my spring into some molten emboss enamel. This worked to hold it in place. A thick bodied glue like E6000 would also work. Once the spring is in place, add the image to the spring.

To create your popup surprise, fold the spring down and position your popup in place. For added festivity, you can place glitter or confetti inside to pop out when the box is opened.

I hope you enjoyed my project! It's a fun favor for Halloween parties!

Vintage Holiday Card

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Sandy here today with a cute vintage holiday card, at least my version of vintage, lol.  I started with a burgundy French Flair Stacker card base, 5 5/8 inches square. I die cut the largest die from the Horizon French Flair Boutique Stacker set from cream DP and layered that onto the card base.  Then using the next to the largest Silver French Flair Stacker, I added another layer of DP.  You can see how well these dies match up to give you perfect layers.  The same thing for my fancy oval; a burgundy panel cut from the mid size Horizon Oval Boutique Stacker with a coordinating DP panel cut from the Silver Oval Stackers.  I added a straight piece of Horizon Square Boutique Stacker for Tilda to perch.

Using cream mulberry paper, I die cut my Poinsettia Strip die, layering two large, one medium and one small petal.  I pinched each petal down the middle and fluffed a bit for some dimension.  Next using burgundy mulberry paper, I created two roses from my Miniature Rose die.  I dry embossed the backs to give them a rounded shape, then layered and shaped them.  I added three Holly Leaves and pieces from my Holly Lace Flourish.

Be sure to check out this week's Vintage Challenge.  Join in the fun for a chance to win a $20 store credit at Cheery Lynn Designs.

Wish You Were Here by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Hi Everyone, Julie here hosting the blog today.

Can you believe it's the weekend once again and only another week until the clocks change here in the UK and the dark winter nights are upon us.

I hope you are all loving the new release dies as much as I am. This card shows you what I have done with another couple of them. I stamped my postcard stamp, shaded it with Distress added some crackles and mounted onto the Alpine Flourish Doily die. I totally love all the detail on this die and shaded it also with distress. It gives a stunning Vintage look. The clever thing with this die is you have the option of having a solid centre to stamp on, add a sentiment to or place your centre coordinating die piece into it for a lace look.

My binoculars I die cut out in Grey and Black cardstock slightly off setting for a shadow effect. I then put some Glossy Accents onto the lens area and rubbed a little distress over to highlight.

A pretty Vintage style flower and some black gems were added to finish my Parisian themed card.
