I began with a card base using my Scalloped Square Lg Stackers  and my matching Silver Square Stackers for the background DP.  I used the same die set for the square panel in the center.  For the image, I die cut a Scalloped Oval Small Stackers and the matching Silver Oval Small Stackers.  This great digi image is from Sylvia Zet, Wee Stamps.  I added a Celtic Chain border across the bottom.  I used a Sentiment 1 frame, adding letters from my Mini Font set.  The last step was my snowflake embellishments using Snowflakes, Snowflowers Set 1 and Set 2.  Finished size is 5.625 inches square.

First off I wanted to say that this is my last post for this year for Cheery Lynn Designs. We are taking some time off over the holiday's to spend with our family and friends. I hope you enjoy some time to relax with your family and friends as well!

Today I was sitting around my tree doing some finishing touches and I thought that it would be a lovely idea to share a tree with you today. I used the gorgeous Lace Pine Christmas Tree die and cut it 6 times so I could make it 3-D.

I then layered it on two sizes of the Oval Doily Stacker One and then the Mega Polynesian Sail die to finish it off.

I'm taking a break today from Christmas cards to share a refreshing spring card that I made awhile back for a magazine submission - but sadly, it wasn't picked up. But I still love this card and hope that you will too!

1. Die cut the French Lattice from green patterned paper, back with a rectangle, cut to the same size as the die cut in the matching patterned paper.
2. Hand stitch a seed bead at each intersection of the die cut.To make it easier to line up, poke a hole with the needle from the top towards the bottom, and then bring your needle up from the back and add a bead.
3. Die cut 15 small flowers, in pink cardstock from the Embellishment #2 die.Cup the flowers using a stylus and foam mat.Cut a small Styrofoam ball in half, and glue flowers onto ball.After glue is dry, add a small pearl to the center of each flower.
4. Tuck leaves under hydrangea and glue to the center of the card.

Stepping away from my comfort zone, I chose to use non traditional holiday colors. The background was cut using the largest Classic Coved Rectangle Silver Stacker. Lace Corner Deco C adorns the corners. I turned the Dutch Scallop Square Frame at an angle for more interest.

To create the flower, I cut Rose Leaf Strip three times. I staggered the leaves as I attached them. Once assembled, I added just a touch of Distress Stickles to add to the vintage flair. Build a Flower Embellishment #2 was used to create the flower center. Foilage was cut using Wreath Strip and Holly Leaves. Tucked in behind the flower is Snowflake 2.

Here you can see the details in the background. I covered the Diamonds & Starburst Embossing Plate with Ranger Distress Ink (Spun Sugar) to add a hint of color to the embossed areas. This is the smaller of the Merry Christmas sentiment set.

For my card today, I want to share a fun way to create stained glass using the Cheery Lynn Designs Lacey Angel die. My friend Stacey from Sweet Stamps showed me how to do this. 

Step 1: Die cut the Lacey Angel die twice.  I die cut it from Cryogen metallic white paper and then again from a patterned paper.

Step 2:  Insert the Angel die cut back into the DP, turn it over and add a two sided sticky tape to the back side of the DP.  If your tape is not wide enough, just butt the strips up against each other.  I used 2.5 inch Scor-Tape.

Here you can see the tape shining through the Angel.

Step 3:  Add clear glitter to the Angel, tapping it down where the tape shows through then knocking off the excess.  I used Sparkly Sweet Ultrafine Transparent Glitter. 

Step 4:  Remove the release paper from the tape and add a piece of vellum to the back side of the Angel, covering up all the sticky tape.

Step 5:  Add color to your Angel.  I used a combination of Pitt Pens and Copic markers.  I left the wings clear as well as the bottom edge of her gown.  Avoid getting your vellum too wet as it will buckle. 

Step 6:  Add a light colored card stock behind the Angel to help the colors show through.  I used white for my card.

To complete my card, I added a border from the Expandable Tiny Borders die to the top and bottom of my card front.  And then die cut my Merry Christmas die, trimming off the snowflakes.  Since I had to cut two Angels to get my background DP, I decided to use the extra angel to finish the inside of my card.


I die cut a Scalloped Oval Small Stackers and the matching Silver Oval Small Stackers for my computer generated sentiment.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches. This is a fun technique and does not take very long to complete.  It would work wonderfully with any of the lacey die cuts that Cheery Lynn makes.
