Happy Halloween

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here with a fun Halloween card. I die cut the Lacey Pumpkin Corner in orange. I kept the orange pieces of the pumpkin to fill in the lace after I colored the lacey die cut with brown. When I layered the lacey corner onto the distressed matte, I glued in the orange pieces and colored in the leaf pieces with green watercolor.
I layered two of the sentiment tags and added the small Happy Halloween sentiment to the front. I completed the card with some penwork and white chalk.

Saying Thanks in a Whimsical Way

Hi everyone! It's me Gabrielle here with you today to share a couple more projects with you as January's guest designer for Cheery Lynn! I don't know about you but I find I am always in need of thank-you cards, I like to take the time to send a card to show my appreciation to someone.

I wanted to get some extra use out of that cute lattice piece I got in my last CL order so I thought I'd use it like a window design on a whimsical style card featuring fairies and flowers.

For my flowers I just layered a couple of the Sweet Williams floral dies, inked the edges with a little chalk ink and glued some flower stamens to the centers. I wanted to continue the light filligree look so I used the leaves from the Flourish Leaf strip in white and the Lace Corner Deco in white. I used papers from Graphic 45, Prima and Bo Bunny. I gave the whole thing a more tattered look by tucking in bits of muslin (cheese-cloth) here and there.

The funny thing is, once I get started playing with my pretty Cheery Lynn dies, I more often than not find that I can't just stop at one card! I get a few ideas going at once and therefore ended up with an extra card this week! :)

For this card I wanted to play up the delicate gate die! I just love the super fine design on the Ornamental gate and I thought it again played well with the Graphic 45 window design in their patterned paper.

I used adhesive foam dots to create pocket design behing the gate, I find the shadow this creates gives a nice 3D look to the card. I also used another one of the Lace Corner designs I used in the top card for this one.

I used one of my all time favorite CL dies, the Fanciful Flourish as a 'stem' for my floral arrangement and again used the Sweet Williams Strip for my handmade flowers but in this case I curled the petals to create more of a rose look tothe blooms.

Thankful for You!

Hi everyone, it's me Gabrielle Pollacco with you here today as guest designer for the month of September! I was so happy to be asked to be a guest of Cheery Lynn's Designs, I've been admiring their beautiful die cut designs for some time now so I was thrilled to find out I could use them with my Revolution die cutting machine!

For my first project this month I thought I would do a layout using a variety of the dies. They have such amazing 'build your own' flower dies which allow you to make one large, full, frilly bloom or if you break them up like I did, you can make a few blooms in different sizes.

I basically went with a large, medium and small floral design using the Shasta Daisy B-310 die cut. I used 1 large + 2 medium to make a large bloom, 2 medium + 1 Small to make the medium bloom and 3 small cuts to make the small bloom. I used some green chalk ink to tint the centers of the blooms to give them a slight color depth and finished it by adding a soft yellow gem to the center. I also used one of the Lace Corner Deco B - B162 pieces to give a lacey accent around my flower cluster. and a piece of the gorgeous Fanciful Flourish B-117 to finish the cluster.

For my other floral cluster I used a design technique that is a favourite of mine to use and that is to softly ink the area around the cluster and add a mask with some texture paste. Here I used a script mask. This helps draw focus into the main embellishments on the page and draw the eye into the photo.

Another die that I'm crazy about is the Ivy Corner Flourish B315. This die cut is awesome for frame and underscoring. Here I used it to frame the floral patterned paper that I layered onto the page and also used it to underscore the title.

Another beautiful die that I just knew I had to have was the Window A FRM-141, it just adds such a light, airy, summery design to a page! I added a lace 'curtain' to the design by adding the Anastasia Border B-136 along the top edge of the window panes. I also used the lace edge along the bottom of the photo and peeking out from the pulled back paper edge at the top of the page.

I also used another one of the Lace Corner Deco B-162 die cuts to create a corner/border design to go all around the edges of the layout. I simply adhered the corners onto the background paper and then used a white Signo Unibal gel pen to draw a doodled line to link them up.

Thinking of you

Hey everyone!

Jenn here, back again with my second week as guest designer. Did you all see the early release of the new fabulous dies? Love them! Hope everyone has fun shopping, and even more fun crafting with your new dies!

For my card this week, I needed something quick to send to a very special lady who I wanted to let know she is in my thoughts. Since she is very elderly, I wanted something a bit on the elegant side, but also perhaps a bit on the vintage side. Here is what I came up with:

I love my Cheery Lynn butterflies just as much as I love the flowers. They are so delicate, and still can be shaped into a dimensional embellishment just as you would a flower. It is also so much fun to play around with bits and pieces of different dies to create different looks. The top border above the ribbon is a side I cut off from the Dutch Doily Rectangle Frame. I've also used half of a Polynesian Sails Oval on the bottom half of the card. Added a few other embellishments, and viola! Done in under half an hour.

May Sunshine and Laughter Brighten Your Days

It seems like the rain is never going to stop here, so I loved the sentiment that I used for this Upright Z-fold card. This project uses a couple of different techniques, so I'm going to break them down for you, so you can make your own.

For the background paper, I took a patterned paper, and ran it through my machine with an embossing plate.

I used a brayer to apply watermark ink over the top , and sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat set the powder.

I repeated the brayering and embossing two more times to build up a thick layer of embossing powder.

I inked over the surface with the dark brown ink, and then used a paper towel to remove the ink off of the embossed areas.

I set this to the side, and started the card base by cutting a strip of cardstock 4 1/4" x 11. I placed the paper with the long side along the top fence of my scoring boardl, and scored at 5 1/2" and then flipped the paper, and scored at 2 3/4". Fold the base so that you have a small "tent" to the front of the card.

I adhered the embossed paper to the back panel of the card. I took a strip of gold paper 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" and used the City Girl Edger to cut decorative borders on each side. A added a scrap of the embossed paper to the center of this panel and adhered to the bottom of the card.

For my image panel, I cut brown cardstock 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" and covered it with the French Lattice Small. I used the Coved Rectangle and Coved Rectangle Stitching Tool for my sentiment. The stitching tool allows me to make perfect stitches around my border. I adhered the bottom of this whole panel to the base of the card.

The original directions for making this type of card relied on a tab on the back panel to tuck the front panel behind, to make it stand up, but I created a different method. I glued a lace Corner to the back of my brown panel, and sat my card on the table, and used a Crop-a-dile to punch holes to line up with the opening in my fancy corner die. I then ran ribbon through the holes in the card and laced it through the die cut and tied my bow. This keeps the card standing upright, and can be untied to flatten the card for mailing.

For the flowers, I used the Shasta Daisy Strip. I inked the edges with a dark yellow chalk ink.

Then, I cut a small circle into a scrap of paper to make a template, and placed it over each flower, lining up with the center.

I spritzed into the opening with tdye ink spray. This kept the splatters just to the center of my flower.

I assembled the flowers and added some greenery to finish the card.

A Rose is Not Always a Rose

Hello, to all of you Cheery Lynn Designs lovers out there! On my project today, I wanted to show you how to take the small rose die, and use it to create an apple blossom (at least that's what I think it looks like!) I used a patterned paper that had branches with flowers and leaves already printed on it, but I thought it would look great to add some dimension over the top. I didn't try to line the elements up exactly to what was printed, but rather arranged them to compliment each other. This really creates a big wow factor, in no time at all. For the blooms, I used one layer from the smallest rose strip, and then used centers from the BAF2 embellishments. They really look so similar to the patterned paper.

Ann's Altered Matchbox Drawers

Hello, It's Ann here with my last post as a guest designer and although i'm sad to be leaving i have really enjoyed sharing my creativity with you. Thank you so much BJ, Lori and Gini for having me on the team, it's been wonderful and i am grateful for the opportunity.

So for my last week i have created a set of altered matchbox drawers and yes, i have used real matchboxes for this project. There are 12 boxes over three layers and the drawers open on all four sides.

I love how the Chasing Rainbows doily makes a perfect centerpiece on the top of my drawers and of course no project is complete without some handmade flowers using the fabulous Rose and Sweet Williams dies.

Creative Corners With Ann

Hello Cheery Lynn Fans,
It's Ann here, I'm very happy to be back with my second post as a guest designer.
I have designed a card to play along with this weeks "Creative Corners" challenge.

Having accumulated a big collection of these amazing dies i wanted to use some older and newer dies on my card. I have used the lace deco I corners over gold and black script paper.
I love the rum punch doily and have used just the outside part of the doily as a focal point then layered this with wreath strip and tropical leaves. The die used from the tropical set is the largest die and makes great 'filler' leaves due to it's bigger size.
The flowers are made with sweet williams and daisy strip dies, the centers are on the BAF embellishments #2 die....This die is a must for your collection.
I finished off my card with a dream catcher, this is a newer die and so cute!

Welcome Ann, Guest Designer for June

Hello Cheery Lynn fans,
My name is Ann McLachlan, i'm honored to be a guest designer with my favorite company for June.
Thank you BJ, Gini and Lori for giving me this amazing opportunity.....So exciting!

I live on the Hibiscus Coast North of Auckland in New Zealand.
I have been scrapbooking and card making for the past twelve years and over that time i have been fortunate to have been published in several magazines, designed for four design teams (as a coordinator on three). I have worked as a demonstrator for two different companies and taught classes at two retreats.

I love playing with paper craft goodies and hope you enjoy my creations.

For my first project as guest designer I have designed a gate fold card in pink & cream, i really love the softness and femininity of the colors but it also has lots of layers for visual interest.

I started with a metallic pearl gate fold card, adding patterned paper edged with strips of lace light deco border in cream and embellished them with pink rhinestones for added bling.

I then added a layer of chicken wire cut in metallic pink.

This is one of my favorite dies for adding background texture.

I die cut a french pastry doily in cream, cut it in half and centered them on each side of the card.

To embellish my card I added velvet blooms in opposite corners with rose leaf and leaf flourish foliage. I finished the front off with a sentiment frame on topped with another tag and a hugs sentiment.

To decorate the inside of my card I covered each panel with patterned paper.

In the four outside corners I placed a die cut from the lace deco corners I set

and finished off the center with strips of light lace deco border cut in metallic pink card.

Purple Dragons....say What!

Good Morning Cheery Lynn fans,Donna here with my card for this week, and as you can see I'm in a Purple Phase at the moment. I decided to color up Lily the Dragon in a lovely shade of purple with some bright yellow to compliment it. I've used a few dies to go with our challenge this week which is "Nature", so we'd like to see some form of bugs, butterflies, dragonflies on your cards or projects.

The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs "Floral Breeze" Digi Set, stamp is Magnolia, and all dies are from Cheery Lynn Designs, ribbon, gems and lace from my stash.

Honey, Honey - Shabby Chic

Hello Cheery Lynn Fans, Tamara here. So sorry I'm a little late with my inspiration today, but better late than never.

I'm going through a purple faze at the minute, can't seem to get enough.. lol

I decided to try my hand at the shabby chic style and came up with this card. Unfortunately the photograph's haven't come out every good as the weather today is rather dull..

I will list and link all Cheery Lynn Dies used at the end of the post so all you have to do is click..lol

The border on the side is a favourite of mine and seem to reach for it all the time, its called the Frills and Hearts banner and is simply divine. I used a crimp machine to create that cardboard effect and then applied white paint.

The smaller border on the other side of the card is the part of the frills and hearts border that you would normally throw away but I think its to pretty so in actual fact you get two borders for the price of one. You will find that with Cheery Lynn Dies you can sometimes use the positive and negative cuts..

Here is a close up of the Cutie Fringe flower and the metal butterfly that I heat embossed with Shabby Chic Fantage embossing powders..

I absolutely adore these new daisy strip flowers and the Rose leaf strip is also one of my favourites.. I have also used the Tiny things with wings die for the cute little bumble bee, see if you can spot it between the flowers. I have again embossed using Fantage embossing powers. On the corners I embossed one of the corner dies and believe me when I tell you they look like metal..
