Shabby Butterflies by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 5 Comments

Hi Crafty Friends,  Its Julie here today. I'm sharing with you a Shabby Style card with some mixed media on it. It is approximately 5 3/4 inches square in size.

Here is the start of the layers on my card. I cut a square of patterned paper and then placed my Dutch Daisy Border die on with some low tack tape to cut. I used my Distress Tool around the edges and added a couple of scraps of paper which I inked at the edges.I then applied some Texture Paste through a strip of Sequin Waste to act as a Stencil. Once dry I added a little Distress ink to coordinate with the paper.

I used the large and medium die in the Sentiment Tag set, cutting white cardstock and adding a little Distress ink to the larger die before layering up and adding some Stickles around the middle. I then layered onto my Alpine Flourish.

My Butterflies were cut in patterned paper and layered up twice.

Hope you have enjoyed looking at my card and now feel inspired to try this style of card. Good Luck to everyone entering our Weekly Challenge.

Good Idea Card by Corina Finley

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Hello & Happy Friday!

Corina here with you today, to share with you a card background that I created using Watercolour paper, Distress Inks and a Cheery Lynn Design Embossing Plate.

I absolutely love to create texture and depth on my cards.  This is a technique that I had fun doing and there are so many possibilities. Try a variety of Cheery Lynn Embossing Plates with different colour combinations -the skies the limit!

I used the mini Distress inks for the convenience of the smaller pad. I could apply the inks directly to small sections of the Old Brick Embossing plate.

I then spritzed my Watercolour paper and my inked Embossing plate with water. I applied the Watercolour paper spritzed side down, on top of the inked embossing plate. I then ran it through my Die Cut machine on the appropriate settings for normal embossing.

If you place a piece of paper towel under your Embossing plate while you emboss with your Die cut machine, it will soak up your excess water and you will have less mess to clean!

As you can see from the picture above, the embossed Old Brick shows up great!

I wanted a more dramatic look so I gently rubbed my Fired Brick Distress Ink over only the top embossed layer. I then spritzed with water to blend the Distress Inks.

I then repeated this last step with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Above is a close up of the texture these steps created! Love it!

The card was made up from a variety of Cheery Lynn Dies. I created a Sweet William flower to bring the background colour to the forefront. I added silver paint to the music notes, gears and key to tie in my embossed stamped sentiment.

I also would like to point out the Border of Circle cut outs on the bottom of my card. That is from the New Release Deutschland Border Set. This border strip die cuts the small circles and also perforates a line of dots, above and below the circles for wonderful detail!

Hugs & Kisses and a Fond Farewell

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Hi friends.  Bonnie here again from Make Time to Craft.  This is my last post as guest designer for January and it's time to say good-bye.  It was terrific stopping in to share some projects with you this month.  I just love working with Cheery Lynn Designs dies.

I started with a 5-1/2" brown square card base for this card topped with a medium pink, light pink and brown layer - each just a little smaller than the previous one.  I love layers!  Each of my smaller squares were created with the inner die from the Royal Scandinavian Doily.  I cut a 2-1/4" square of ivory cardstock and centered the die and cut.  I then layered that on brown and pink cardstock squares and each square is topped with a pretty shasta daisy flower.  You will need four of these.

I cut three of the larger flower layers and one of the middle size for each flower - two of the large in light pink and one large and one medium in medium pink.  I lightly inked the petal edges with a tan ink and I cupped each petal up around my needle tool before assembling.  Add a half pearl for the flower center and then attach two leaves to the back of each flower and adhere to your card.

I finished off the card with a dainty little double-loop bow made on my Bow-it-All V2.0 using brown shimmer satin ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and a sweet little sentiment at the bottom.

TEXTURE WITH DIES BY ANITA KEJRIWAL

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Hello dear friends !!!!
A warm hug to you and here is my wednesday post for all of you. I have brought for you a Thank You card made with the January New Release dies. You must browse through this section to see what a wonderful collection we have here , especially for the valentine season. My card measures 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches and I have given it a raised textured look using the French Lattice large frame die. I cut out the diecut in my diecutting machine and before loosening the square bits , I applied small foam tape pieces behind them. I removed the backing from the tape and then laid my die cut frame on the card stock , carefully lifting the border. The pieces that had tape at the back got adhered to the card. I used the die cut for adding another layer on the side as seen in the card. So you can cleverly use every bit of the die cut with just careful layering.
The flowers are made with Judy's bloom flower die. And the butterfly is so delicate and lacely, used from the new release. The border around the french lattice frame is another rectangular die, which is compatible with most of the frames and doilies. The rest of the supplies is listed below.

List of  Dies used.

A2 Frames Rectangular Classic (Set of 7) - CM5

Mayan Butterfly w/ Angel Wing - B533

The challenge this week at the Cheery Lynn blog is anything goes
So that calls for lots of wonderful projects using Cheery Lynn Dies. Not only you can win a 20$ shopping prize but there is also the chance of being chosen for our design team. So lets get going!!!
See you all next week. Bye and stay happy!!!!

Happy Easter!

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here with an Easter card using many of the new release dies from January CHA! The A2 Frames are awesome for making card bases and actual frames for your cards. I cut the dotty frame by positioning the largest frame with the 3rd largest frame on my die cut platform and making both cuts at the same time while running it through my machine. I use a magnetic platform but I've also used tape in the past to make this cut.

Next I cut several colors of the basket so that it could be cut apart to create a decorative basket full of eggs. I layered my cuts so that the bow was the top most piece, then the basket with some eggs cut to go on top of others to give dimension. A bit of charcoal chalk was lightly colored along edges to further accentuate the dimension. The basket was layered in the grasses and my little chicks were flocked and a wee giggle eye was added for some fun! The Happy Easter sentiment was cut apart to fit on the top and bottom of the frame.

Vintage Themed Card with Rhonda

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Monday greetings to you!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

I have a vintage themed card to share with you today as it's one of my favorite style of card. There are several layers of our stackers as you can see, from our A2 Frames in Classic and Scalloped to the Coved Rectangles in Classic and Scalloped.

The Alpine Flourish Doily was the perfect size to layer into the design here. You can also hopefully see the subtle hint of snowflakes which are cut from vellum here.

Since the vintage image I've used includes thread spools in it, I used a tiny wooden one I had found in my local craft store. It is wrapped with a cut from one of our Tiny Expandable Borders and secured with glue.  I then used it with a stick pin for an embellishment with my florals.

Details of the floral cluster.

I finished the interior of my card simply with our new Dutch Daisy Boutique Stacker, then cut it again using the A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped die to create the border. The Thank You #2 was added as the final step.

Steampunk Valentine by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here today. With our challenge this week  Sweethearts 'Add a Heart' and Valentines Day fast approaching I thought I would make a Valentine card with a twist of Steampunk.

You will see on this photograph how I cut my first layer in red card adding the Gear dies, layering some to the front and some behind. I cut a lot in half as I new this was the area that was only going to be seen on my card.

                                                         B523 Deutchland Border Set

DL292 Lords and Commons A2 Stacker Frame

The next layer showcases two of our new dies which you can position anywhere on your card, the choice is yours.

I added my steampunk corners to the sides, layering on more Gears and adding a little Stencilling with inks onto my paper. See how the die cuts really pop mounted onto the red card.

My Stampotique figures were stamped, fussy cut and coloured with Copics.

My Hearts and Arrows were cut out in Red, Black and White Cardstock, you will see how I paper pieced the layers back together which adds dimension and a shadow effect.

My sentiment was a sticker in my stash.

Just be You Card by Corina Finley

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Hello!

Corina here with you today to host the blog. This week, I wanted to create a card using the New Release Rose and Leaves Set.

The Rose and Leaves comes as a set of 3. The Rose is very versatile. A few of the Designers have used it as a vocal point on their cards, created pattern paper with only the Rose or have just used the detail leaves in their floral arrangement.

Above is a closer look! This die also allows you to adhere the outline of the petals to papers and bend the petals up to give depth and dimension to your flower.

I also used a border from the New Release Royal Scandinavian Border Set. This also comes in a set of 3. Last week I used one from the same border set and I hope to use the remaining border from this set on next weeks card!

Happy Valentine's Day and Sweet William Flower Tutorial

3:30 AM 11 Comments
Hi friends.  Bonnie here from Make Time to Craft.  Today I have a pretty Valentine's Day heart shaped card for you featuring some fantastic dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

The Heart to Heart Lacy Doily is one of my favorites!!  Lots of different sizes included with this set and the design is fantastic.  I cut my card base with the largest solid heart die.  Remember to position the top fold so it just sits a bit below the cut lines on each side to maintain a top fold for the card.  I also trimmed the bottom flat a bit so the card would stand for photos.

After adding some different colors and sizes of the lacy heart doily along with the sentiment, I embellished with several Sweet William flowers in different sizes.  Love these flowers!  The beautiful double-loop, double-layer bow was made with hot pink delicate stitched satin from Really Reasonable Ribbon on my Bow-it-All V2.0 Tool.

For all the details on how I created my Sweet William flowers for this card, please view my video below.

#Iam4H Layout

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here with a layout using the new release dies. My family is in 4-H and the kids show rabbits as a project.  The bunny dies in the new release are a perfect accent for my 8×8" layout. I layered mats cut from the Deutschland Boutique stacker set with mats with the Deutschland Border set. I love how they work together nicely with the A2 Frames. We show Californian Rabbits and they have the exact body type as the Bunnies. To finish them off I colored their noses, feet, tail and ears gray/black like the real rabbits. I titled my layout #Iam4H to complete the page.

Masculine Valentine with Rhonda

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Happy Monday to you!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog and share my project with you.

I thought it would be fun to play along with our challenge theme for this week "Sweethearts - (Add a Heart)" and created a masculine themed valentine card.

"XO" (A2 Sized Card)

I started with the Dutch Daisy Boutique Stacker cut from white cardstock, then used the A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped cut from kraft card stock for my next layer. Then, I used the A2 Frames Rectangular Classic and cut it from white cardstock to alternate my color scheme.

Using the rectangle cut, I then cut the pretty intricate Dutch Daisy Boutique Stacker by adhering the die to the center with some Washi Tape. You can see the result below.

For my center cluster, I cut one Celtic Heart from kraft card stock, then using a pencil, lightly outlined the shape on white card stock. I trimmed and backed the design with white card stock, then adhered with foam dimensional adhesive.

Next, the smaller of the Two of Hearts was cut from kraft card stock and adhered with dimensional adhesive as well. I thought it would be pretty to cut one of the delicate Arrows and tuck it into the top heart.

I added the ribbon and branches to the top, then finished by adding pearls to the corners and to the heart along with my XO sentiment.

Cheery Lynn Designs Dies Used:
Dutch Daisy Boutique Stacker A2 Frame - DL293
Arrows (5 Dies) - B467
Celtic Heart - B144
Two of Hearts - DL128
Pine Branches - B146
A2 Frames Rectangular Classic (Set of 7) - CM5
A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped (Set of 7) - CM6
XOXOXO - B375

I hope you are inspired to play along with us for our new challenge - Sweethearts! You could win a $20 gift certificate to our online store just for playing along!

Thanks so much for stopping on over - have a super week!
