Memorial Day Post

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Happy Monday blog readers!!! Today is a special Monday here in the States; it's Memorial Day, a day set aside to commemorate men and women who died while in military service to the United States. I thought it would be quite appropriate to feature a Thank You card for today's post.

I created this card using Jillibean Soup Dutch Mustard Soup line and several of Cheery Lynn Designs new releases. One of my favorite features of the card is the double ric-rac border. I love how it commands the viewer's attention and separates the different patterns, allowing a place for the eye to rest. Did you know that there are piercing holes on the ric-rac border? Oh, I will definitely include some stitching the next time I use this border!

Dies Used:

Pretty Petal

Darling Daisies

Fanciful Flourish

Dotties RicRac

Little Stackers Scalloped Nesting Circles

I also wanted to share a layout featuring my 2 Little Monsters that was recently published in the Summer Issue of Scrapbooking & Beyond magazine.

Dies Used:

Index Card

Scalloped Nesting Circles

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. A special thank you to those who have served and continue to serve in the military!!

Don't forget, there's still time to enter our Butterfly Challenge for a chance to win one of two shopping sprees to Cheery Lynn Designs! Good luck!

Hello!

Selective Embossing with Cheery Lynn Designs Embossing Plates

3:00 AM 7 Comments
Before I get started with today's post, I just want to remind you that the

Cheery Lynn Designs Butterfly Challenge, ends June 4th

So you still have time to enter our Butterfly Challenge for a chance to win one of two shopping sprees to Cheery Lynn Designs!  We can't wait to see what you create!

Okay, so with that said, a few weeks ago I saw this great tutorial by Erin Lincoln where she selectively embossed part of her card front.  After watching her tutorial, I thought I'd give the technique a try with my Cheery Lynn Designs Dotted Swiss Embossing Plate and one of the small Rectangle Card-Maker Stackers dies.

I started with a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch top-fold card and slid the top over the embossing plate and laid it down on my die cut machine like shown below (using an emboss stack). I then laid the Card-Makers Stackers Rectangle die down CUT SIDE UP (please, please make sure it is CUT SIDE UP so you don't ruin your embossing plate!!!). Position the second die (CUT SIDE UP) where you want it to show up on your card front.

Then you are simply going to fold down the top of the card like so...

Then lay the embossing pad over that, finish your embossing stack and run it through your machine. After which you'll have a finished card front like this... (p.s., I used a different embossing plate on the one pictured below as it photographed better since the card is white).

Ta-da!  Now you have the perfect place to stamp your sentiment... and add a beautiful Cheery Lynn Designs flower like the one I created here using the newly released Judy's Blooms.

I know I am going to use this technique again and again!  I'd love to hear if you try this on your next project... and if you do, please leave a comment with a link to your project so I can check it out!

Don't forget to visit the Cheery Lynn Designs blog every day for more inspiration using your Cheery Lynn Designs dies and embossing plates!

The 4 Seasons with Cheery Lynn

4:36 AM 12 Comments
I could not be more proud of my post today.
Really.
I had some scrapbook pages all completed laying around, in my way and collecting dust.
I finally decided to get those pages into a scrapbook and started putting them all in an album.
The pages that were not for my 2 youngest ones were going in a book for me.
Since most of the pages are about me,
I thought it'd be appropriate for it to be MY album, wouldn't you agree?
Well, I put them all in the album and I thought,
I need a 1st page, a title page and INTRO page.
I needed it to be generic enough for all the wacky things I put in it.
I started thinking this book is about me throughout the year as each season turns into another.

So, for this intro page, I have incorporated an
ATC for each season and then created a layout with all 4 ATC's.
Here they are:)

SPRING

SUMMER

FALL

WINTER

Here is the completed layout.

Of course I used a lot of the new dies on this layout.
(see list at the end of this post)

I love how elegant the new flowers and flourish are.

I had pictured in my mind using the Garden Gate in this manner.

Hopefully you can see what I was going for..

The gate stays the same, somewhat as the Tree and scenery change behind the gate with the different seasons.

I hope you have enjoyed me sharing this with you.
I truly could look at it all day.
Have a great weekend and don't forget about the BUTTERFLY CHALLENGE. Have you submitted your project yet?
This has been Jeannie from THE POLKA CABANA, ta ta for now!

Flowers, flowers and more Flowers

1:30 AM 7 Comments
It's no secret...I love flowers!
Cheery Lynn Designs makes it so easy to create lush outdoor scenes full of flowers, trees and vines.
I made the following layout of my husband's favorite hobby (dare I say obsession) and though there is a lot of detail work it may look like it took a long time to put together but it really didn't.

As soon as I have the vision in my head of what I want to do, I cut several pieces from the Pretty Petal dies, Sweet Williams flower dies, Floral Heart die and the flourish die. After I have several cut from each, I arrange them on my LO and it comes together so quickly.

I also used these dies on my layout:
Cardinal in a Tree
Christmas Tree
Micro Mini Alphabet
Heart Chain Border

Cheery Lynn Designs Fence, Grass and Sunflower

3:30 AM 7 Comments
For my Cheery Lynn Designs post today, I wanted to use some of the other newly released dies.  So I got out my Victorian Picket Fence, Grass Border, and Sunflower dies.  And here is what I came up with......

I started with my Scallop French Flair XL Stacker  to create the purple card base.  Next I used my Silver French Flair Stacker to create the patterned paper background.  I added the fence and the grass next.  The little girl is from Whiff of Joy, I printer her onto Cryogen paper then colored her to match the DP with my Copic markers.  The last step was the flower, I know sunflowers don't come this color but I thought the flower looked a lot like the flowers on the background paper.  The leaves are from the new Tropical Leaves die set.  Finished size is 5 5/8" square.

Don't forget about the Butterfly challenge, please join in on the fun for a chance to win a $50 or $25 shopping spree to Cheery Lynn Designs.  The challenge will end on June 4th.

Dottie's Ric-Rac border was cut to fit the 12*12'' page with one cut
Heartland America  Large die- I used the inside heart under my M&M title for my love for my
parents

Oh So Colorful

3:30 AM 6 Comments
My how quickly the days pass by when you're having fun!! Happy Monday Cheery Lynn Designs blog readers!! It's Tanisha here with a bright and colorful layout using Echo Park Papers and several of the newly releases dies.

Who says you can't use flowers on a boy layout? Certainly not me! I die cut Darling Daisies, Judy's Blooms, Sweet Williams, Fanciful Flourish, and Tropical Leaves from colorful papers to add a burst of personality to and carry out the theme of my layout.

I added a few Dimensional Butterflies and used the Varstiy 5/8" Alphabet Set and one of the Coved Rectangle Nesting dies to complete the title.

I used the Key and Scalloped Diamond Border dies to further embellish my layout.

Here's a close-up of all of the flowers I used. I just love the detail!

I found the perfect way to adhere the fanciful flourish without creating a big glue-y mess; I sprayed the back of the flourishes with Helmar's V2 Vellum adhesive and then placed it on the layout and there was no mess at all!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. Be sure to check out the contest that we are currently running here on the blog for your chance to win 1 of 2 shopping sprees.

Until next post...have a great day!
