Special Day by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Hello, it's JULIE here hosting the blog today and this week I have been having fun layering our Stacker Dies to make a frame, adding finishing touches with the gorgeous Daisy Chain Die.

I started by cutting out my large square die along with a smaller square to form my aperture frame. Next I cut out another square frame in yellow cardstock and cut along the pierced edge with my gullotine and inserted behind my frame along with my lace edge that had a little Distress Ink added at the edges. I added foam strips to my frame and placed on my card.

My Blue Tit bird was coloured in with Distress Inks and a Black Fine Liner Pen. For my Daisy Chain I positioned 4 strips around my card and layered my flowers twice, shaping them on my Embossing mat adding pearls to the centres and hiding the joins with a Daisy.

My sentiment and frame were layered up with foam strips and a little cheesecloth and pearls for extra detail.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and for the continued comments left, I love reading them.

Crafty Hugs,
Julie x

Christmas Crafting Inspiration with Cheery Lynn Designs

3:30 AM 1 Comments
Hi friends.  Bonnie here today from Make Time to Craft to share a beautiful Christmas card featuring one of my favorite dies from the July Cheery Lynn Designs release.  I'm kicking off a week full of Christmas ideas, so let's get started.

It's mid-October, so you know what that means....
Time to get those Christmas cards and projects going so you are not scrambling last minute (like last year, right??).  This week the Design Team from Cheery Lynn Designs is going to showcase all of their favorite Christmas themed dies to get you motivated to get started with your own projects.  Head on over to Cheery Lynn Designs and take a look at the Christmas section to see all the fabulous dies that are available.
This card showcases the beautiful Christmas Wreath die set

My card is a 5-1/2" square card and I do have several layers including a pretty white mulberry paper layer at the bottom.  The inner white square that I placed the wreath on measures 3-1/2" x 3-1/2".  That is layered on red and I trimmed a small border.  Below that you can see the Square Frame die in green which is mounted on a 4-1/8" square of white cardstock.
I cut the wreath in emerald, dark green, and gold cardstock and then layered them all for added dimension.  I then cut some berries from red cardstock and added them throughout the wreath.  I topped it off with a pretty gold jingle bell and bow.  The corners are adorned with holly in red and green.

I topped my card off with a pretty bi-color bow made with ribbons and an embellishment from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Be sure to stop back each day through October 21st for more Christmas inspiration from the design team.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Don't forget, we have a great Halloween themed challenge going on. We'd love to have you enter for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Cheery Lynn Designs.

Happy, Happy, Happy with Rhonda

3:30 AM 3 Comments
Happy Monday crafty friends! Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

Today's card features the Pretty Pretty Bows (Set of 2) dies along with the Tags 2 for my sentiment.

"Happy, Happy, Happy" (4x8 Card)

The base of my card is an 8x8 piece of pattern paper, folded in half. I then cut a layer of vellum at 3.75 x 7.75 and adhered in the center. Next, I added a bit of cheesecloth and trimmed to fit the layers.

I trimmed a piece of pattern paper to fit under my Butterflies Flying Among the Vines Mesh Border, then attached by touching some Glossy Accents on the butterflies to secure, then I tacked down the border with a small amount in random areas.

The Francesca border strips were adhered on either side of the Butterflies Border Strip, then trimmed to fit. I used foam squares for some dimension of my center panel.

You could add gems to really dress this up or leave as is for a more gender neutral card.

Enjoy Spring with Rhonda

3:30 AM 3 Comments
Happy Monday and St. Patrick's Day crafty friends! Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

Yesterday we introduced our brand new challenge for this week "Think Spring".  My project for today is inspired by and follows the theme as I am definitely thinking Spring the last 3 weeks.

In the background you'll see a Horizon Oval Boutique Stacker frame underneath the Lattice. On top of the Lattice I've used the XM Scalloped Circle and Horizon Circle Boutique Stacker Frame. A few Rose Leaves peek out from the bottom right.

The Garden Gate is layered next and I've cut the Ivy Corner Flourish and woven it through the gate in a few areas. Darling Daisies were a sweet little floral accent to mix in with the Sweet Williams Strip flower as well.  The Tags 2 that I've used is tied around my blue flower with simple white string.

A Bit of Spring with Rhonda

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Happy Monday to you!  It's Rhonda here to host the blog for you today.

I decided to go with a bit of a Spring theme for my project today.  The yellow reminds me of sunshine and I wanted to see the effect of some ombre papers in a few die cuts.

"Hello" (A2 sized card)

I used my Fancy Corner Cuts 4 for the pretty details on the upper corners of my yellow base layer. Next, I added the Polynesian Sails Oval doily, topped by a medium Horizon Boutique Oval Stacker Frame in a wood grain pattern paper.  This final layer was adhered with foam dimensional squares.

The Shasta Daisy and my Dainty Bows were cut from ombre paper. The Victorian Romance Flourish was cut apart and tucked under my flower, then I added a Mini Butterfly with Angel Wing on the upper right of it. A few gems and Stickles give the butterfly a little sparkle. The Tiny Fanciful Flourish is cut from a glassine bag.

Happy Monday to you!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

Today I have chose a softer pretty color scheme and Valentine's theme for my project.  I cut the Fanciful Flourish from a cereal box chipboard, then painted it with Gesso, embossed and inked it for a shabby chic feel.

The floral cluster features the Cuties flowers 2 and 3. They are so much fun to create!

A Little Love Note with Rhonda

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Happy Monday Cheery Lynn Friends! It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

I wanted a little break away from the holiday "everything" right now to create an everyday card this week. We always need a card on hand to say we're thinking of someone or simply that we love them.

This is a shaped card featuring our Coved Rectangle stackers.  I just love this pretty shape and the backer here is the scalloped, then the blue-green layer is actually a folded layer.

The hearts here relief cuts from the Heartland America Doily die.  I thought they were pretty layered in with the floral cluster.  The solid heart edges were inked for a bit of definition.

Something different

3:30 AM 6 Comments
Hey everyone!

Jenn here, back with my last week as guest designer.  Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying a warm, sunny weekend wherever you are!

I was right last week- my new dies arrived with plenty of time to play with for this week's post; super fast shipping.  I managed to come up with a card that is... well, on the different side I guess.  I'm not too sure how I ended up with it but I rather like it.  I hope you do too!

I used the new Gardenia Strip; however, instead of using the center pieces of the flower I added in a little bling and tucked it into two sets of the new Dainty Bows that I heat embossed with Shabby Green Fran-tage.  The lock was also heat embossed, except with Shabby White Fran-tage.  Notice the two buttons that are tied?  Just open it up :)

While playing around with the Horizon Square Boutique Stacker Frames, it hit me to make a flap with the new Cape Cod Doily underneath.  A little extra spot on the front of the card to use more of our favorite Cheery Lynn dies!  It does still open at the bottom like a regular card as well.  I think I may play around with the closure more on the next one.  If I had known this is what it would lead to I probably would have used ribbon tucked under the papers.

With that, I bid everyone a farewell but looking forward to seeing all the fabulous creations in blog land.  Thank you for the lovely comments along the way- much appreciated!  Be on the lookout for the guest designer next month.  Looks like we're in for some fabulous inspiration!
