Pretty Bows with Jean

3:30 AM 3 Comments

We have another gorgeous card from guest designer, Jean Bronaugh.  She has used the newly released Pretty Pretty Bows to create a wonderful flower.  You get two sizes of bows in this set.  She has used the larger size to fashion the flower, adding a Cutie Fringe IV as the center.  She added an Ambergris Doily as the backdrop for the flower, accented with some lovely rhinestones.  The finishing touch was the smaller bow from the Pretty Pretty Bow set.

A Special Anniversary Card

7:30 AM 8 Comments

Hi everyone! It's me Gabrielle Pollacco here with my last project as guest designer this month here at Cheery Lynn.  My Mom and Dad's 55th anniversary is coming up in a few weeks so I thought I'd make up a special card for them.  Ever since I was a little girl, my parents always treasured the cards the most from us kids, especially if they were handmade.

I used a bunch of pretty papers from Maja Design Winter collection with some of my favorite CL dies to make this card.  Can you tell I'm fascinated with the lattice die?  I can't seem to get enough of that one!  For this layout I mounted it behind a circle I cutout using 2 cups to trace out my circles.  For the flourishy leaf design I just had to use my favourite flourish die (I'll tell you a secret....I thought I had lost this die and was so upset, it's seriously my all-time favourite leaf/flourish die, I was ready to order myself another!....then I found it about a week ago, it was in the case for my Revolution machine (I finally remembered I put it there because I pretty much always use that die when I pull out my machine :)

I also used a couple of the lace border and lace doily designs to accent the circle design as well as the edge of the corrugated cardstock I used.  And I just love to use those lace corner designs to finish off my cards.

For the flowers I used the beautiful Gardenia strip die.  I just love the pretty rosy design this die gives.  The petals were cut from white cardstock and I just used some Victorian Velvet distress ink by Tim Holtz....I just randomly tinted parts of the petals using a soft make-up sponge, leaving some parts white.  I wanted a small 3rd flower for this floral cluster so I used a few of the smallest Sweet Williams die cuts to make a little rose.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my projects this month as Cheery Lynns guest designer, as always it's been an absolute delight working alongside all lovely ladies on this design team and working with the amazing Cheery Lynn dies!

2:30 AM 6 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here playing along with this week's challenge Tickled Pink! I created my card with shades of pink from a distressed paper pad. To add the green color to the vines and leaves, I used chalks. I bit of line work around the word "love"helps it to stand out against the background. I'm totally loving the paper bow among the flowers!

Dreaming of Spring with Rhonda

3:30 AM 8 Comments
Happy Monday to you!  Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

My project today is inspired by my dreamy thoughts of Spring. It's been a very cold and difficult winter where I live and all I can think about is how nice it will be to see pretty flowers and birds flying around again in the Spring. So, I decided to go with a dreamy springtime card today.

"Springtime Dreaming"

Isn't the new Classic Birdhouse so sweet? I love the details and wanted to feature it!

I've had some questions about what kind of adhesive that is used on my projects for the dies. I thought it might be helpful today to do a step by step of how I created this card and share which kind of adhesives I used along the way.

I always use my Tape Runner/ATG for layers, Glossy Accents, Glue Dots in various sizes, and Foam Dimensionals (you can get squares, dots, circles, etc.) in various depths.

  • To begin, I folded my paper and cut the base of this card using the 5th Scalloped Rectangle Die.
  • The folded card size is 4.5" x 5.5"
  • Next, I cut my Fiona's Magic Mirror layer, and scored it to fold and wrap to the back. I attached this layer with my tape runner leaving some open space on the top to tuck and layer other elements.
  • Cut the Concentric Circle Mesh, trimmed it, touched a bit of Glossy Accents on the bottom edges and tucked it behind my Fiona's Magic Mirror layer.
  • Cut the birdhouse, inked edges of cut pieces and attached pieces with Glossy Accents.
    • Adhered some glassine bag paper behind the bird hole to soften the look with Glue Dots.
    • Cut one Concentric Circle Mesh and attached on top of Bird House opening using a very little bit of Glossy Accents. (You can use a Q-Tip or your fingertip to do this.)
  • Cut 2 Princess Trees from 2 paper designs, cut the branches.
  • Add Foam Dimensional to back center section of Classic Birdhouse.  This is important so you can tuck and layer other elements as you go.
  • Tack on the Princess Trees to the Foam Dimensionals until you are happy with the arrangement.
  • Cut 1 Sentiment Frame 1, cut it in half and adhere under your birdhouse on both sides.
  • Attach Classic Birdhouse to card, aligning bottom with bottom of the Fiona's Magic Mirror.
  • Do not glue down Princess Tree Branches, leave them so you can still move and layer them.
  • Cut 1 set of Quills, tuck them under the birdhouse at angles using Glossy Accents or Glue Dots.
  • Tie wax string around base of Classic Birdhouse and make a bow. Curl tails with dowel.
  • Cut one Dancing Doily Lace Border segment and wipe a bit of Glossy Accents on back to attach. Add pearls if desired.
  • Cut Mini Fanciful Flourish Right, layer under the birdhouse (may need to trim a bit of the tail), tacking down the leaves with Glue Dots or touches of Glossy Accents.
  • Cut Cherry Blossoms (3 large and 2 small), shape and attach with a brad in the center.
  • Cut 2 sets of Medium Roses, shape and stagger your layers using a brad . I touch my centers with a bit of Glossy Accents to make them appear more budded.
  • Cut smallest 2 Rose Leaf Strip Leaves 2 times, ink the edges and cut tail off. Layer and attach under the Roses using Glue Dots.
  • Cut 2 Olive Branches and attach on either side of your Cheery Blossom.
  • Adhere flowers to card using Glue Dots
  • Cut Bird from Birds of Earth and Sky, ink and attach with Foam Dimensional. Add a pin dot of Pearl Pen for the eye. (Or a mini gem.)
  • Tack down any Princess Tree leaves if desired with a tiny amount of Glossy Accents.
  • Cut Tiny Fanciful Flourish, use a small touch of Glossy Accents and tuck under the bird.
  • Cut Clouds from Glassine Bag, layer under Princess Tree, House and Fiona's Magic Mirror Frame. Use a very tiny amount of Glossy Accents on the area that will be layered and not visible.

Masculine cards with Jean

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Today we have a couple of cards crafted by Jean Bronaugh; she does not have a blog but creates wonderful samples for Cheery Lynn Designs for display at the shows.  This first card displays the beauty of the newly released Cattails and Reeds die.  I love the sparkle on the cattails, like morning dew.  And the transparent wings on the dragonfly are perfect.
Cheery Lynn Designs dies used:

Jean's second card showcases the new Ship's Compass die; just love this color combination.  And the Rum Punch Doily makes a perfect backdrop.  Both of these cards are great for those guys in our lives.  We all know how tough it can be to make a guy card.

Saying Thanks in a Whimsical Way

7:30 AM 12 Comments

Hi everyone! It's me Gabrielle here with you today to share a couple more projects with you as January's guest designer for Cheery Lynn!  I don't know about you but I find I am always in need of thank-you cards, I like to take the time to send a card to show my appreciation to someone.

I wanted to get some extra use out of that cute lattice piece I got in my last CL order so I thought I'd use it like a window design on a whimsical style card featuring fairies and flowers.

For my flowers I just layered a couple of the Sweet Williams floral dies, inked the edges with a little chalk ink and glued some flower stamens to the centers.  I wanted to continue the light filligree look so I used the leaves from the Flourish Leaf strip in white and the Lace Corner Deco in white.  I used papers from Graphic 45, Prima and Bo Bunny.  I gave the whole thing a more tattered look by tucking in bits of muslin (cheese-cloth) here and there.

Cheery Lynn Products used for this project:

The funny thing is, once I get started playing with my pretty Cheery Lynn dies, I more often than not find that I can't just stop at one card!  I get a few ideas going at once and therefore ended up with an extra card this week! :)

For this card I wanted to play up the delicate gate die!  I just love the super fine design on the Ornamental gate and I thought it again played well with the Graphic 45 window design in their patterned paper.

I used adhesive foam dots to create pocket design behing the gate, I find the shadow this creates gives a nice 3D look to the card.  I also used another one of the Lace Corner designs I used in the top card for this one.

I used one of my all time favorite CL dies, the Fanciful Flourish as a 'stem' for my floral arrangement and again used the Sweet Williams Strip for my handmade flowers but in this case I curled the petals to create more of a rose look tothe blooms.

Cheery Lynn products used for this project:

I hope you enjoyed my projects today and hope that I've inspired you to get out your Cheery Lynn dies to play today!  I look forward to sharing another project with you all next week! xo

Steampunk Tag Take 2!

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here today to re-create a steampunk tag. Back in December I was gathering my Cheery Lynn projects together to send over to BJ in preparation for the Craft and Hobby Association Winter Show. I came across the tag below. I love that tag! I created it as part of my application for this design team! Since then Cheery Lynn Designs has released more steampunk inspired dies...and of course I have added them to my collection! So, using the tag below as my inspiration, I have crafted for you a fresh interpretation of this tag.

Valentine's Inspiration with Rhonda

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Happy Monday to you!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

Have you seen our latest challenge?  The theme is "Sweethearts" which I took inspiration from.  Since it's been so very cold here, the next fun thing we get to look ahead to is Valentine's Day, which is so fun to think about and create cards for.

"XOXOXO" (A2 Card)

I've used the Fancy Corner Cuts #4 on the bottom white layer here.
The white layer is elevated with foam squares.

I used the Lattice Hearts and Vines die and layered the flourishes under my black Horizon Coved Rectangle Boutique Stacker.  A few Tiny Flowers were added into the vines for a soft touch. The hearts here are from the Heartland America XL die.

I cut apart the XOXOXO sentiments in both sizes for the accents here as well.  I love to take pieces of the dies and create something a little unexpected.

Cheery Lynn Designs dies used:
Lattice Heart and Vines - B368
Horizon Coved Rectangle Boutique Stacker Frames - DL251
Tiny Flower Kit (Set of Three) - B376
Fancy Corner Cuts #4 - B431

Index Card - A107

XOXOXO - B375

We hope you can join us this week for our "Sweethearts" challenge on the blog. The lucky winner will get $20 to spend in the online Cheery Lynn Designs store!

Snowflakes a'plenty

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Sandy here with you today.  Alison will be taking a break from crafting for a bit.  The challenge this week at Cheery Lynn Designs is Snowflakes.  I think I have that covered with my card.  I started with a 5.75" square blue card stock base.  I added my DP then die cut a Snowflake Mesh border also from blue card stock.

Did you know that the snowflakes in the mesh border match the medium snowflakes that Cheery Lynn makes?  Using Snowflowers Set One and Set Two, I added matching white snowflakes to the border, rotating them so they are staggered.

I used the medium die from my Horizon Square Boutique Stacker set to back this cute image from Sylvia Zet.  For the snowflake in the corner, I used Snowflake #5 as a base and then layered two Snowflowers as well as a small snowflake from the Snowflakes die.

You still have time to enter this week's Snowflake challenge for a chance to win a $20 store credit to Cheery Lynn Designs
