Not Square.....and Not a Card!

3:30 AM 16 Comments

Hi and Good Morning everyone, Alison here today. :)

Well our new challenge this week is 'Shaped Card - Anything But Square', however I got carried away in the moment and ended up making an entire Keepsake Gift Box! lol.

One of the things I love about papercrafting and especially die-cutting the most,  is how you can start off with just a few sheets of flat card and paper and end up with something totally 3 dimensional and created all by hand.  This box did take me quite a bit of time, but I enjoyed every minute of it. :)

I used 300gsm Ivory Pearl card and 3 sheets of First Edition 12" x 12" papers to create this box, and all dies were cut with this too.

First of all I constructed a basic shape rectangle box, (approx 6 x 9 inches and 1" in depth) and covered the sides with paper and the Lace Light Deco Border.  I then sandwiched the box between 2 Horizon Coved Reflection Die cuts to decorate the box lid and base.  The reflection dies are so versatile you can adapt to almost any size - they are brilliant!

I then layered smaller coved rectangles, scalloped coved rectangles and the Chasing Rainbows Doily in alternate layers of card and paper, before decorating with flourishes, butterflies and flowers. I inked all the edges in walnut stain DI, added pearls, a pearl pin, wooden embellishments and ribbon, and finally sprinkled some glitter for a bit of sparkle.

Details of the dies for different flowers are listed below.

All dies used on this project are:

DL128 - 2 of Hearts - layered with foam pads for dimension
B147 - Olive Branches - Green leaves tucked behind the flowers
B256 - Cutie Fringe II  - Larger Fringed Flower
B258 - Cutie Fringe IV - Smaller Fringed Flower

I hope you find time to join us this week, and I look foward to seeing your entries.  Dont forget there is also fresh inspiration daily over on our Cheery Lynn Designs Inspiration blog.

Have a smashing week and thanks so much for visiting today.

Our Weekly Spotlight Top 3 and Gorgeous New Release Dies!

3:30 AM 7 Comments

Hi and Good Morning everyone. :)

Wow! there were some beautiful, intricate and very creative entries last week to our 'shaped' challenge, and it was another tough week for our DT to narrow it down to just 3.  So our Top 4 in order of entry this week are:

09 - Betty
10 - Joann
14 - Coops

Well done ladies, just fabulous creations!  Please contact us for your Weekly Spotlight Badge to display on your blog.

Now its such an exciting day today!!! We are showcasing some stunning new release dies on our Cheery Lynn Inspiration Blog so pop over and take a look at all the fabulous creations made by the DT!

My card today uses 3 of the new release dies: Spooky Tree, Ornamental Gate and just one of the gorgeous labels from the Sentiment Frames set.

I used a 6 x 6 card base and layered black bazzil cardstock, papers and the spiders web corner from the Lace Corner Deco H set for my background.

I then joined together 2 of the Ornamental Gate dies (to make a fence) and placed the Spooky Tree on top.

The fun letters were made from the LSLC alpabet set and I handwrote the 'To You' with a versamark pen and heat-embossed with white powder on the Mini Sentiment Label.  The moon was actually made from an insert from another of the really versatile mini-tags & labels.

This is a such a fun new release, packed with lots of different themes so I hope you find time to check them out, and I also hope you find time to enter our challenge this week too.

Thanks so much for visiting our blog today - have a smashing week!

Love

3:30 AM 9 Comments

I am here with you today with another try at a scrapbook page; the photo is from my best friend's daughter's first wedding anniversary.  Aren't they a lovely couple?  To create the great frame around the photo I used my Horizon Coved Rectangle Mega Doily dies.  I die cut the frame, then centered the next smallest die over the back of the photo and hand trimmed the corners.  I used a Mega Tea Party Doily as a backdrop for my flowers.  I created the largest flower by layering from the top: stamens from Build a Flower #1, Judy's Blooms (smallest flower) and two Stacker Flower 6 die cuts.  The other two flowers are stamens on top of both of the flowers from Judy's Blooms.  I used my Mega Fanciful Flourish for the greenery.  To create the word "love" I die cut the letters using my Lace Script Lower Case alphabet set.  The designer paper is from the K&Company Bailey paper collection.  Finished size is 12 x 12 inches.

You still have time to enter the Wedding/Anniversary challenge here on the challenge blog.  In addition to a $20 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs, we will be giving away a Big Shot die cut machine to one of this month's entries.  So why not join in on the fun.

Isn't this a great design? I just love how this card turned out, and the dies I used to create with.
 Screen Door w/Cat
 Cathedral Lace Frame
 Judy's Blooms
 Medium Rose

I used some fun designer papers and made this layered flower, I have been loving all the floral designs my fellow design team members have been sharing.
Do you see how I used the lace frame as the screen for the door? I love how it turned out- this came by accident while I was cutting the dies.I just laid the pieces in a pile and picked these up together.
The sentiment is from a CTMH stamp set, the papers are from DCWV and my stash.
So I have a second design with a window- this is one of the newest die that were just released
Window die
Burble / Cheese Cloth Texture Embossing Plate
 Lace Flourish Letter F
Deco Corner
I decided to make a Fashion card design using a New York fashion lady this is a great paper design from DCWV. That beautiful rich ribbon is from really reasonable Ribbon. This is a quick card for me but such a fun one... I have had several of my  followers ask me to share a few easy designs using dies...and can be used with many type papers or a stamped design in the inside. I could also see some flowers in the window.
Thanks for stopping by today, hope to see you play along with us this week- you could be our winner.

This week our challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge  is

FLOWERS

I have been wanting to use this collage picture I made up with art projects I had seen last year at a CHA convention...So I am sharing a layout of fun layers.

Well you know I had to make some flowers out of a mixture of dies...all I used was scraps from my pattern papers-I love the leaves with PP and the flowers in another shade.I have been wanting to pull out my pearl swirls and use with flowers, isn't it perfect with these flowers?

Let me tell you that I am in LOVE with these flourish letters, these are going to be used many times.Next I want to try it on  a card, I know I will need to get more letters. I have enough letters to spell; FAMILY,YOU,and LOVE to use on my next projects.

I wanted to share that the background papers are from My Mind's Eye and one of my favorite to use because it has glitter... I cut a few  French Pastry Doily out of a french patterned paper and used in the corners.

I had to add a border around the picture collage sort of as a frame. Then I used one heart shape and attached the Flourish U .

So there you have it ,a quick layout with odds and ends but I think it turned out well. Remember you have a couple days left to enter our challenge this week...hope to see your project Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog
