Reindeer Fun by Debbie Brownmiller

A warm Hello to you. It's Debbie with you today from Debbie's Time Out.

With the cozy red plaids and deer so popular this year for Christmas decorations I thought I would create a card using both. I have inked, distressed and layered my background. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the Winter Holiday Word set. I added the snowflake from the Snowflake Set 2 set. The some holly leaves were added from the Holly Lace Flourish .

Now for this cute reindeer. I cut him out from the Reindeer Fun set then layer different colors behind him and the trimmed him up a bit. It doesn't show in the photo, but I popped him up quite a bit so he really stands out as my focal point. Now this makes for a beautiful masculine card too.

Merry Christmas by Jenny Alia

Hi friends, it's Jenny her with you today sharing a Christmas card. I was inspired by this beautiful Merry Christmas die. It's large and I wanted to use it on a a larger card to really let it shine. I used a classic red and green color scheme and cut the Poinsettias out of a patterned paper from an older Bo Bunny Christmas stack.

I began by layering patterned paper on top of a 5.5" white card base. I added a white square before gluing the Merry Christmas, Holly Lace Flourish and Poinsettia dies. I cut the Poinsettia Strip twice to get enough blooms for the arrangement I wanted. The flowers were all double layered for fullness. The Holly Lace Flourish was also cut twice out of a dark green textured card stock.

For the extra finishing touches I glued pearl centers on the flowers and spread glitter paste on the petal edges. I sprinkled dry glitter over the paste while it was still wet. This paste is a new supply for me and I wasn't sure it would be sparkly or white enough for how I'd envisioned it. As one of my DT sisters recently said it's the season of glitter and I don't think you can go overboard during the holidays. For extra interest I added white Frantage embossing powder in the corners and heated with a heat tool from underneath.

Christmas Cardinal by Jenny Alia

Hi, it's Jenny here today sharing a Christmas card inspired by this week's challenge. I began by layering the Horizon Square Boutique Stacker Frames in red on top of a 5.5 inch square card. I took a smaller white piece of card stock and distressed the edges before layering a piece of design paper cut with the French Flair Classic Silver Stacker on top.

I thought the Fancy Bird House decorated in red and green would make a cute holiday home for thie Cardinal from the Feathered Friends set. I cut the birdhouse using kraft paper and then glued different colored papers to the back to add the detail I wanted. I also double cut the fence and layered the white fence on top of the kraft base. The snow is texture paste and then I also added sparkle by adding a glitter paste on top. I used two layers of the Holly Lace Flourish for greenery and added a snowflake from the Snowflake Set #2.

Holiday Poinsetta with Jenny Alia

Hello! It's Jenny here today sharing a Christmas card I made. The 3D Poinsetta die from the latest Cheery Lynn Designs release is so detailed and I love the way you can pop up the center flower. It adds so much interest to a project. It would be perfect to add to a gift bag too. Just add some ribbon or flourishes like I did on this card and you're done.

I began by cutting out red and patterned card stock using the A2 Frames Rectangular Scalloped set. Then I cut two of the Holly Lace Flourish and colored them green with distress ink. The red bow is from the Sweet Candy Cane die. I cut the bow off the cane. It was simple to do because of the added detail in the die. I cut it twice and off set it a little so the white bow would show up and give it a shadow effect.

The 3D Poinsetta was cut using white card stock and colored with red distress ink. I glued flat back cream colored pearls to the center.

A Festive Card by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here today. Thank you so much to everyone for their kind comments and 'likes' on our Facebook page with my Mixed Media Tutorial last week, I really appreciated it. I have made a Christmas card this week to share with you all. Let me take you through the steps of making this card.

I first of all stamped my image in black onto Kraft card and heat embossed with clear ink. Shading my image with Copics and adding Stickles to the berries.

I next paper pieced my large Snowflakes and Pine Branches to the reverse of my card layers to form frames.

You will have noticed on the green foliage I also cut out the top of the branch and layered on to form a corner point.

My Poinsettia's were made by colouring strips of white paper with Distress Spray Stains. I used Aged Mahogany, Festive Berries and Brushed Pewter and dried with my heat gun before adding a touch of gold mica spray. I then die cut out my Poinsettia Strip.

You get beautiful different shades on your flowers which gives a realistic look. I added some stamens and built them up.

I paper pieced my Holly and my Pine Branches onto my card, checking my Poinsettia would hide the joins before I finally glued on top. finally adding Stickles around the Perimeter.

Festive Home Decor Tutorial by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here hosting the blog. Have you ever thought of die cutting your Dies using cereal boxes to make little chipboard shapes, painting, inking and making a Festive Home Decor project ? Well, I hope to inspire you today to try this and show you one of the reasons, why I have such a passion for Cheery Lynn Dies, through this step by step tutorial. I will go in depth explaining mixed media with your dies, so grab yourself a cuppa and I hope you enjoy my post.

I picked up a chipboard frame ( 10 x 8 Inches ) in a craft bargain store and next selected a variety of dies to use on my picture. I cut them out from a cereal box using the addition of my metal shim plate. I only needed to go forward and back once through my die cutting machine. Look how clear and precise even the most intricate of dies have cut out, hassle free.

Once I decided on my placement I glued all my die cuts in place, using Multi Medium Matte underneath and on top of the die cuts to make sure totally sealed in place. You will also notice I have cut some of the snowflakes in halves or quarters. I also layered up my Holly and Merry Christmas twice. This will become apparent why later on.

Once your glue has had time to dry, give your frame a coat of Gesso, this helps to prime it all ready for inking. I went around the edges of my die cuts with a small brush to get into every corner, but I like to use a baby wipe on the bigger areas as this doesn't leave brush marks and you get a smoother result.

While I was waiting on this drying, I started on my background. I used a piece of Black Bazzill Bling to give the shimmer of a frosty sky. I cut out a circle, instead of my snowflake I had placed earlier, inked the edges of my moon with Iced Spruce and sprinkled some Chunky White Frantage on both pieces of cardstock heating them from underneath to melt.

I also cut out Icicles and Snowflakes in white 300gsm card, using my metal shim. I like to use a thicker card when applying inks or paints and Cheery Lynn dies slice through this weight of cardstock like butter.I then placed into a cardboard box, right side up and sprayed with glue. Lifting them out and placing them onto a piece of paper I poured an Extra Fine Glitter over them and pressed onto my die cuts.

My row of houses I cut out 5 times with cereal boxes, gluing 3 together and another 2 together. I placed a book on top of them until dry. You will notice I cut the tree off the end on one set and not on the other. This is so the houses will sit inside my frame and then outside for a 3d effect. I applied glitter in the same way to my houses. I coloured a strip of acetate and placed in between my house layers for an illusion of lights on .

Once dry I edged the icicles and house with Iced Spruce Distress. See how it now defines the glittered die cuts.

My Frame I wanted to look like a snowstorm, so I placed it in a Cat Litter Tray I bought to use as my spray booth and started to spritz Distress Spray stains on - Pumice Stone, Iced Spruce and Brushed Pewter. I kept spritzing layers and drying in between with my heat gun until I was happy with the result. Whilst still damp I sprinkled on some Glitter Frosting.

Please be patient and make sure your frame is thoroughly dry before starting to dry brush on some Gesso. The cereal packaging holds dampness for a while and even though dry to the touch it may damp through your layers. I used an old paint brush I never clean deliberately, to add a little light and texture. Also using a soft brush to dry brush white paint over my die cut snowflakes to highlight.

Next I used my waste piece from cutting out my snowflakes as a stencil, picking up a little Gesso with a baby wipe and dabbing on my frame.

Santa and his Reindeer were cut out twice. I coloured with Copics and put Gesso on his beard and hair. I used a coffee stirrer stick to give a little height between them both for a 3d effect.

Finally, starting to glue all my layers in place. You will notice, some are glued in the frame and the others out.

Can you see the glossy accents I added to my icicles to give a cold wet look.

Do you see I have now added glitter to the antlers of my Reindeer and Rudolph is at the front of the sleigh.

You will also notice some Glossy Accents on Santa's Sleigh and Reindeer's collars along with a little sparkle under his sleigh.

A mixture of Polar White Flower Soft and Glitter frosting were added to my roofs and slopes for more interest.

I finally added my white glittered Snowflakes and rubbed a little Treasure Gold in White Fire and Silver onto my Frame. My Holly And Merry Christmas I rubbed only with the gold. The reason for 2 die cut layers was so it would stand out more prominent to my Snowflakes and also I wanted the gilding wax to be clear on these areas and not rub on the background.
