A Country Christmas with GD Laurie Schmidt

Laurie here from Stamping Up North with my last post as a Guest Designer for Cheery Lynn. It has been so much fun sharing my projects with you!

Today I have another Christmas card, which are my FAVE to make. I don't know if you have been out shopping lately, but PLAID is everywhere. Especially the black and red for the holidays.

It inspired me to make a country Christmas card using plaid paper and my Cherry Lynn dies!

I started out with the Christmas Tree Shaker die and added a bow from the Christmas Wreath die set. The presents are from Whimsical Christmas. I added the sentiment and snowflake using the Christmas Gift envelope set.

Fall Pumpkin Patch with GD Laurie Schmidt

Hi everyone!

It's Laurie from Stamping Up North back to share another card with you. I've been having SO much fun guest designing this month!

Today's card features the Cheery Lynn Fall Pumpkin Patch die. I make lots of Thanksgiving and fall cards to mail out to friends and family, and this 3 piece die is so versatile and fun to use. The pumpkins can be kept in a patch or cut apart, like I did for this card.

I used a few fall colors and added some leaves, pine branches and a sunflower to make my arrangement. It's all backed on a Mexican Tile.

"Funny Dog for Christmas" from November GD Laurie Schmidt

Laurie Schmidt here from Stamping Up North with a fun project to share with you today. I'm so happy to be guest designing for the month of November here at Cheery Lynn!

One of my favorite things about Cheery Lynn dies, besides how well they cut, are the fun, whimsical dies that they always come out with. The Funny Dog has become one of my favorites! One look at that adorable face and you can't help but smile.

I don't know about you, but every dog in our family gets a present for Christmas. Sometimes it's a bone or a bag of treats, and quite often a new toy...but there is always something under the tree for them!

I used the cute presents from the Whimsical Christmas set for my funny dog to hold in his paws. For those of you that are big fans of the Witch's Laundry and Santa Laundry dies like I am, this is a must have!! The stocking line in this set is adorable too.

I backed him on the center of the Mexican Tile die, and added the bow and holly from the Christmas Wreath set.

He's so cute that I made another card with him...this time he's on the Sled die having some fun in the snow.

His hat is from the Santa's Laundry die, and his bow tie from the Merry Christmas Gift Envelope set. Which by the way, I have been using a lot! I love tiny things and this set has such fun mini dies. I used the Merry Christmas sign and snowflakes from it also.

The background trees are actually from the new Shaker dies that the design team has been posting about this month. They are awesome for shakers of course, but I have been using them for all kinds of things! The inside tree that is left out after cutting is such a fun shape,too. They also look great inlaid.

Today I shared just a couple of ideas using the Funny Dog die. I also cut him out in brown, and also in white inlaid with black. So cute and so versatile, I know I will be reaching for him (or her) often!

Celebrate Fall Step Card: Guest Designer Kathy Clement

Hello Friends! Kathy Clement here with my final guest design project for Cheery Lynn. I have had such a good time playing with these wonderful dies this month, and thank you all making me feel so welcome.

I have always wanted to make a step card, and have watched a ton of online videos to learn how to do so. But it was so much measuring and cutting and folding. So, when I found a die that would cut and score my paper for me in one simple pass through my die cutting machine you can guess how fast the Step Card Bundle Set made its way into my shopping basket!

You can use the die to cut center step cards or side step cards. I chose to make this cute side step design. I used heavy kraft cardstock for the base, and it cut and scored it beautifully! The Step Card Bundle comes with a bunch of cute flower blossom and leaf dies. These were used to decorate the card. My tiny plaid tags are made with the Tags 1 set. I also used the Wheat Head die on this card.

Once again, I used Carta Bella Fall Blessings paper collection to make this card. My bows are brown micro gingham and natural burlap string. I love the way this card stands up for display. I think I might just have to add it to my fall mantelpiece.

Fall Leaves, Garden Gate and Chrysanthemums Card: Guest Designer, Kathy Clement

Hello, Friends!

Kathy Clement here with another guest designer project for Cheery Lynn. I am having so much fun playing with my Cheery Lynn dies! Today I have another colorful fall card to share with you featuring Fall Leaves, the Garden Gate and Chrysanthemum Strip Die.

I had some fun experimenting with the dies this time around. The Fall Leaves were die cut from corrugate, then sprayed with various mica sprays. I love the texture this added, and I was thrilled so see how well the dies cut through the corrugate material. The flourishes on either side of the sentiment panel are from the Pumpkin Patch die set.

The Chrysanthemum Strip die is a joy to work with! I love how quick and easy it is to die cut loads of pretty flower layers. I die cut these from Carta Bella's Fall Blessing paper collection, then shaped and layered them, adding a gem to the center of each blossom.

The garden fence was die cut from Tim Holtz woodgrain watercolor paper. I love the wonderful texture this added to the die cut. To give the fence an aged appearance, I blended a little Pumice Stone and Vintage Photo Distress Ink randomly onto the surface, then spritzed with water.

I hope you found some inspiration in this project. It's wonderful to work with dies that cut so easily and make such pretty embellishments!
