Vintage Corset by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Hi everyone, it's JULIE here today hosting. I am sharing a card with you this week with quite a lot of techniques on it. So let me take you through all my stages.

Layering my die cut corners behind my layer of card gives a different look to our corner dies.

I used my stitched rectangle as a guideline, counting the stitches, to die cut out my patterned strip evenly, holding down with a little tape. I worked from the outside on both sides towards the centre. This way I new my card would have even spacing.

I measured in between my gaps and added strips of paper with foam tape which I tattered at the edges. My centre strip was ever so slightly wider than the rest so I balanced this by adding my cream Anastasia border.

I cut my Nautical Wheeler doily in half and offset onto my stamped image which had also been tattered at the edges and a scattering of Frantage added.

My corset was cut out 3 times in different patterned paper and reinserted in to the negative spaces. I curved the edges at the top and bottom to give my corset a 3D effect adding my angel wing lace finishings and a few sparkly gems.

Adding some splashes of paint and some shabby flowers to finish.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you get a chance to join in our Current Challenge which is Mothers Day. We all look forward to seeing your beautiful entries.

Thank You by Debbie Brownmiller

3:30 AM 1 Comments
A warm Hello to you today. It's Debbie from Debbie's Time Out hosting the blog .  I had a couple of  flowers in my stash that I had previously made using the Chrysanthemum Strip.  So I used them and created this card around them.

I started with a beautiful gold pattern paper to match the flowers. I layered the Lattice Heart & Vines  to the center and then layered the two chrysanthemums flowers made from the Chrysanthemum Strip. A few of the  Flourish #13 leaves were tucked behind the flowers. The sentiment thank you from the  Thank You #2 was layered along the bottom. A simple yet elegant card.

I thank you for visiting the blog and for the comments you leave. They are appreciated. Please come join our challenge @ http://cheerylynndesigns.blogspot.ca/search/label/challenge for your chance to win a $20.00 store certificate. I would love to see what you create.

Have a wonderful crafty week.

It's A Dry Heat! with Lisa Blastick

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Hi everyone! I'm back today sharing a new card for Cheery Lynn Designs using their New Release North America and Canadian Provinces. I live here in Arizona, so I had to share the popular "It's A Dry Heat" card. This card was inspired by a postcard here in AZ. I placed the "Arizona State" in the middle of the card. The State was cut 3 times in each color and then I fussy cut the white cardstock behind it. It really makes it pop out a bit more. In the center is a star from "100 stars"

The "scalloped frame" was cut in light purple and kraft and then placed together. The cactus was made using "surfer's up set" surf boards and I embossed them to look like cacti. I also used the small bushes in kraft since it is hot in the summer and everything turns a bit brown.

The sun was made using a "sunflower" and the font is Microsoft Word Bleeding Cowboys. The little skeleton is a stamp that I fussy cut out. Lots of pop dots behind, but you could also leave it flat for mailing out.

Hope you enjoyed!

Awesome & Cool Dude 8x8 Layout by Amy Voorthuis

2:30 AM 1 Comments
Good morning lovelies.
For this post I'd like to show you a masculine layout for a change as most of you know that I normally do feminine projects with lots of flower dies. Now I went for the steampunk dies.  On the picture you see my handsome boy a couple of days back while we were walking with our dog!
I totally love the fact that he is always wearing his cap and that amazing leather look jacket.  He is my cool dude.

Awesome & Cool Dude!
Firstly I layered my background sheet on two other sheets and for this layout I used two collections by Maja Design "Vintage Summer Basics" & "Vintage Winter" and I gessoed the background sheet.
Then I added some mist that I sprayed with blue Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray to not let it be white this time. Then I stamped with a text stamp to finish it off.

I really like the fact that you can cut for example the B402 - Concentric Circles Mesh Border into pieces to give more dimension to your work and not use the whole piece. There are more cool borders and other Cheery Lynn dies you can do that with.

Sympathy card by Eva Dobilas

4:01 AM 1 Comments

Hi there, this is Eva and today I have a Sympathy card to share with you.  To create this card I started out by cutting down an A2 size card base out of cream card stock.  Next I die cut a Quadrafoil Square Doily out of black card stock and backed it up with a kraft card stock and also with black card stock just to show on top and bottom of that panel.

Next I die cut a Tags #2 out of cream card stock and stamped my sentiment on it and added it to my doily.  Next I die cut the Flourish #14 out of green card stock.  Finally I die cut a Lotus Flower out of water color paper and sprayed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and added them to my flourishes.

Hope you like this card and here is the list of the dies I used to create it with:

Thank you for stopping by and hope to see your creations in our current challenge!

Hugs,
Eva

Thank You by Jenny Alia

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hello, it's JENNY posting today with a layered card.  These dies are so beautiful and intricate I decided to keep it simple.  I don't usually use a lot of black on my cards but black can be such a crisp almost statement color so I thought I'd try something different.

I began with a black 5.5" card base.  I cut the Historic Barcelona Square and the Royal Scandinavian Doily out of white paper and layered a piece of Tiffany-blue colored card stock in between.  I layered another square of blue card stock on top and then adhered a black Royal Scandinavian Tag using foam tape.  Thank you is glued to the top of the tag.

I don't know if you can see it well in the photos, but Thank You is covered in glitter glue and I added four rhinestones to the corners of the alpine doily die for a little extra glamour.   This card was simple and elegant and could be easy to replicate multiples as a gift for a bridal shower.

Smile Card by Amy Voorthuis

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Good morning everyone.
Don't you just love the word dies by Cheery Lynn Designs?  Well this one makes me smile from ear to ear. While I am writing this post it's poring with rain and snow {luckily the melting one}.  Why is the warmer weather still not here I wonder. Today I want to show you a happy spring card with some new dies I got just last week.
For this card I used "Vintage Spring Basics" by who other than Maja Design.

Smile:
As you see, it's out of many layers again and lots of distressing {but I didn't us my sewing machine this time}. Purple is my most favorite color to scrap if it's cards, layouts or altered projects.  I love to hear in a comment which color is your favorite to scrap and then I will have a surprise for one or maybe two of you ;-)

Underneath the CAFR-23 - Square Frames {set of 3} I used some cheesecloth to give it more of a shabby chic feeling.  I think the B338 - Black Eyed Susan Strip is one of my favorite flowers to make because it's such a fun and easy one with a lot of volume.
They really stand out on your projects!

On the Road by Debbie Brownmiller

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Hi, it's Debbie from Debbie's Time Out hosting the blog today.  Not sure if you would call this card clean and simple but it was definitely a quick and simple card.

For the base I used a product that Cheery Lynn Designs is now selling called Kraft-Tex. It is tough and doesn't tear and really looks like leather. I embossed the Kraft-Tex using the Gears Embossing Plate  . I layered the  Pierced Stacker #4 on top of that followed by the smallest of the  Circle Stitch and Cut Tool   with Happy Birthday printed on it.  I tucked some of the assorted gears from the Gears (Set of 9) in and around the circle. Last I cut the motorcycle from the Kraft-Tex and layered it for my focal point. It does makes a  great manly card.

I invite you now to come and join our bi-weekly challenge
@ http://cheerylynndesigns.blogspot.ca/search/label/challenge for your chance to win a $20.00 store certificate. Don't forget you can join the challenge once each week.

Thanks you for visiting the blog today and for the nice comments you leave. I hope you have a wonderful crafty day.

"Misfit' Butterfly Card with Corina Finley

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Hello!

Thank you for joining me, Corina, here on the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog.

For this weeks card post, I decided to create a card using my 'Misfit' cuts. These are the die cuts I have previously cut for another creation and cast aside!! I store these die cuts all together in a container and they always come in handy. As I cut 75% of my die cuts from white cardstock, it is easy to ink to any colour palette.

Here I have layered the one of the Small Exotic Butterflies #2 die. The layer underneath is vellum and gives the butterfly more depth. I inked the top layer with purple Distress Ink, added Clear Wink of Stella and purple rhinestones for a touch of glitter.

Dies used:

Royal Scandinavian Boutique Stacker A2 Frame - DL313

I hope you will play along in our Cheery Lynn Designs ChallengeYou could win a $20 shopping spree at the online Cheery Lynn Designs store.

Texas Rose by Jenny Alia

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi, it's Jenny posting today with a card inspired by this week's challenge Handmade Flowers and the state dies from the new North American Release.  This card began as a Cowboys football card but I can't seem to make a card without flowers, so I added some yellow roses and went another way.  My 11 year old recognized the Cowboys star and colors and seemed a bit annoyed that I'd make a card that celebrated a team other than  his favorite.

It might be difficult to see but the large blue square was cut with the Square Pierce & Cut Tool die so that the pierced edge matches the edge of the blue Pierced Star.  I then layered a piece of white card stock that I distressed with a tool and distress ink.  The wood grain is a piece of design paper from Prima.

Most of the die cuts were colored with distress ink.  The Tea Roses were cut with a light yellow card stock, sprayed with glitter spray, and aged with a little brown distress ink on the edges.  The white rose centers and the babies breath flowers are from the Embellishments #2 set.  The boots from the Arizona Cowboy set were glued to brown card stock and then cut out so that the detail would stand out.  I just love these boots, the detail is amazing.

Fabulous Summer 8x8 Layout by Amy Voorthuis

3:00 AM 8 Comments
Good morning lovelies.
Don't you just love the North America collection and did you already hop with us? I for sure had fun with the "Florida"die! But that's not all, there is a wonderful release coming up in May too.
I am so excited for it and I can't wait to show you my work.
Today I'd like to share a 8x8 layout I made with the "Vintage Summer Basics" collection by Maja Design and this time I went for the earth colors & blue.

Fabulous Summer:
The picture I used is one of my beautiful nieces Jamie who was born in Florida but now she moved somewhere else in the States. Don't you just love that sea?  It's so pretty it makes me long for summer even more. On the base of my layout I painted with some white gesso and then I added some paste with a stencil of dots by Finnabair. On those dots I added some pretty star dust stickles to make it shine a bit.  I also did that with the text.

The first time I was on this amazing design team I got the B394 - Ships Anchor & the B395 - Ships Compass as a new release and I thought well I need to use them again that's why I ordered the B279 - Sand Dollar & Starfish & the B267 - Seahorse Family to have more of those kind of dies.
