Valentine Card by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here today. Hope you have managed to get a chance to look at the New Release of dies and are loving them as much as we all are. If not you can check them all out HERE.

Today I am showing you a card I made using another couple of the New Release dies. My card is 8x6 in size. I mounted onto this some heart patterned paper and cut out Sophie's Heart Border in red card twice and mounted them side by side. My mixed media doll was stamped and her dress paper pieced on top. I added some gems, Glossy Accents on to her shoes and coloured her in with Copics.

I used B532 Roses and Leaves.

My flower was cut out in red card stock and I embossed the edges of the petals with my stylus on an embossing mat to give a little dimension. My leaves I also embossed with my stylus, look at the wonderful veins on the leaves, so realistic. We all love putting flowers onto our cards and scrapbooking pages but sometimes too much dimension for Postage Fees makes it impractical to do so and this is where this Rose is perfect. It has such an elegant look to it, don't you think.

I used B530 Heart and Arrow.

You will notice I have used the arrow part of this die only. I double layered cream and red paper together for a shadow effect, adding it onto my speech bubble which I had stamped a sentiment onto and rubbed a little Distress Ink around the edges.

When you purchase any new dies the best advice I can give you is to familiarise yourself with the die by cutting it out a few times and playing with them on your craft sheet moving them around to see what different shapes you can come up with. Then look at your die cuts and cut areas off, you will then see more shapes. Also remember you can paper piece them together onto other dies and this way you will get many uses from your dies, as I did with the Heart and Arrow die above.

Hello dear friends. ..

Today it's my turn to bring some inspiration for you using my favourite Cheery lynn dies.  The die that I will feature today is my most favourite one cos it is all in in! !
Confused! !!! Well , you can decide yourself after you see this die!! This is the New Release Die from October---Say What -a set of 16 dies

This die includes all the shapes and design one needs to create for their cards.
So for my card here , I have used the cloud shape as a stencil and have created a cloudy effect with tumbled glass distress ink. Then I cut the shapes of clouds and while the shape is still in the die, I inked it with blue
distress ink. Now I created the cloud scene on top. Then I have used the speech bubble die to add some sentiment.
The stamped image is coloured with distress inks. The flowers are again tiny die cut shapes coloured with copics. So this is my happy card for you.

 The List of Supplies-

Especially for You - Tag by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here hosting the blog today. I decided to join in the fun of the challenge this week and make a tag. I had full intentions of it being Festive in style, but it was such a horrible day outside I decided to think of summer days.

I cut a piece of Cardstock into a tag shape measuring 3.5 by 8 inches. I mounted my pink striped paper onto it which was distressed at the edges with my distress tool, to give a shabby feel.  I cut out my Deco Border in pink and white paper and offset one in front of the other to give added dimension.

I cut sections of my Snowflake Doily and placed on my tag for interest and texture. Next layering my fanciful flourishes on top.

My flowers were cut out in white card. I dabbed a little distress into the middle area of the flowers for shading and added flower soft for texture into the centres to finish them.

My speech bubble is from the Latest Release. The die is called Say What and has many shaped bubbles which are so much fun to use. I stamped a sentiment onto it and added distress ink around the edges.

My doll stamp was coloured with Copics and her dress was stamped on patterned paper and layered up. Finally adding a ribbon and some bling for finishing touches.

Hope you manage to join in one of our Weekly Challenges. You could win a $20 shopping spree to spend here at Cheery Lynn Designs.
