Life Is Good Card by Chrissy Mac

3:30 AM 0 Comments

Hello everyone.  Chrissy Mac here with another quick custom card project.  Life is full of trials and tribulations, but ultimately life IS good.  Sometimes people could use a quick friendly reminder with this positive message whether it is to tell them they have done a great job, that they are special to you because they are part of what has made life good or sending a congratulations for reaching a special milestone.  That is why I just had to use this Cheery Lynn Designs sentiment die.

I really like using stamps, but sometimes it is nice to just do a nice die cut for your card's main message.  The nice thing about the Life Is Good die is that it is a "one cut and your done" die so it is ideal for a quick and simple card projects or scrapbook layouts.

Since I chose to use a cardstock background that has a pretty bright and colorful design, I opted for a solid color card base (pink) and a white embossed layer to separate my bright and vivid colored paper used for the "Life IS Good" die cut from that bright and colorful middle layer.  I made this with a girlfriend's birthday in mind so that is also why I went with the bright colors and whimsical flower designed paper as the driving color and style element on this card project.

Since I wanted to keep this card design pretty clean and simple and have the message be the focal element, I opted to put one gorgeous little flower on there.  I pretty much think all flowers are gorgeous and I love every single Cheery Lynn Designs dimensional flower die I own.  I am looking forward to picking up some more soon to add to my choices.   This card was as easy as can be but came out pretty sweet and consisted of the following:  Pink cardstock base with pierced edge detail (inside of card has a simple white backer card so I can write to my heart's content), center design card stock with pierced edge detail, white embossed cardstock with pierced edge detail, one orange daisy with pearl center and green leaves, and one "Life Is Good" die cut.

Birthday Wishes and Soft Colored Dreams by Chrissy Mac

CLOSE UP OF MUTED PEACH DOILY AND BIRTHDAY WISHES SENTIMENT
Greetings!  Chrissy Mac here with another custom card project using some awesome Cheery Lynn Designs die cuts.  One of my favorite cards to make are Birthday cards.  There is always a birthday to celebrate around the corner.  I'd like to say that I make all of my cards ahead of time so that I am ready to give that special someone a handmade card, but it just never seems to quite work out that way and so I end up making one that matches the gift wrap or gift bag on the present or that matches a theme I have decided upon.  This one was for a friend who wears a lot of spring colors and so this is very fitting to her personality and style.

I really like square formats and decided to make this card 6.5" x 6.5".  Besides the occasion or person providing my guiding inspiration, there is always an artistic element or sometimes a few of them that guide and inspire my creative process.

BIRTHDAY WISHES AND SOFT COLORED DREAMS HANDMADE CARD
For this card...one word...DOILY!  Cheery Lynn has the most amazing assortment of doily style die templates and here I used the French Pastry Doily which is definitely one of my faves.  On the blue doily under the flowers I simply cut out the center and made a cut so that I could then fan fold it to give it some dimension and provide a nice background for the lovely dimensional Daisies made with the Cheery Lynn Designs Shasta Daisy die.

Have I told you how much I love paper flowers?  No?  Well then...I LOVE PAPER FLOWERS!  You just can't go wrong with handmade dimensional flowers.  Since I try to recycle or up-cycle on my crafty endeavors, for the center of the flowers I used some fake pearls from an old broken necklace.  Score!

Below is a list of the dies I used to build this project.  If you have any questions on how this was made, please leave me your questions.  Either way I would love to hear from you even if it is just to say hello.  Happy creating!

All That Glitters Card by Chrissy Mac

8:43 AM 2 Comments
Hello wonderful people.  Chrissy Mac here with a custom 5" x 7" card project using gold, more gold and some more gold, playing off of the natural craft paper color.  I had two patterned thick papers that I wanted to work with that started me on the "golden" path.  One with the gold foiled arrows pattern and one with a gold foil diamond pattern.  And thus began my card making journey.

This was the result of that journey.  Because I was using so much of the gold and natural tan, I needed a heavy color for contrast and somehow ended up with black since my base card was white and no other color was working for me, but I think any deep, vibrant or rich color could work too.

In the center of the larger flower from the ever so useful Cheery Lynn Designs Floral Bouquet Kit Die Set (each flower with one black cut and one gold paper cut) I ended up using the smallest star die and curling it star points up that provided a tie in to the larger stars in the center and in black to tie in with the black flower layer.  The stars cut in graduating sizes worked well with the gold theme and provided the perfect area for my "wishing you well" sentiment stamp.  I used the following Cheery Lynn dies:

Card Base:  5" x 7" White pre-embossed card
Layer 1:  Golden Arrow Craft Paper
Stars:  (1) Large Star, (1) Medium Star
Stamp:  Wishing You Well
Foliage:  Floral Bouquet Kit leafy branches and leaves
Flowers:  Each flowers was one cut of larger flower in black and one cut in gold patterned paper with the smallest star of the Cheery Lynn Pierced Star Set in the center

I wish you all could really see the gold shine in person. It really is quite pretty as it plays with whatever light is around giving it different hues depending on where and at what angle you are viewing it at. It is a pretty simple project to make. I am just loving this pierced star set and I think it will come in very handy for many different themes and styles.
Thank you so very much for joining me today for this project using three amazing Cheery Lynn Designs die sets.

Wishing you well...with gold on top!
