Vintage Layout

Hi, I'm Gini and I am so excited to be sharing my first post for Cheery Lynn Designs! I have been a big fan of theese intricate dies for quite some time, and am beyond thrilled to get to share these with you. This is a layout of my great-grandmother, who was an artist, and who inspired me to start making things with my hands at an early age. I often look around my studio and think how much fun she would have had creating things there.

I matted my picture with the new Horizon Coved Rectangle Mega Doily. Behind the picture, I layered the inner and outer cuts of the Nautical Wheeler Doily. To build the skelaton of my flower cluster, I used the Pair of Ferns and the Mini Flourish One to establish where my flowers would go. I made several large, and more ornate flowers first, and then added smaller ones to fill in.

The large blue flower in the lower center of the page was made with Stackers Flower 2. The inner petals were curled inwards, while the outer layers were just slightly curled outwards. All of my flowers were painted with Creative Inspirations paints. The flower to the lower left, was again made using the Stackers Flower 2, but this time, the center was created using the Lace Corner Deco D. Varying sizes of pale blue flowers were made using Judy's Blooms. This added continuity to the floral cluster. Finally, Medium Roses and Cuties Two flowers were nestled in, along with leaves from Judy's Blooms, Olive Branches, and Stacker Flowers 1 (leaf)

I am looking forward to sharing with you every Monday inspiring creations from Cheery Lynn! Remember, we have a new blog just for our challenges - and this week we are challenging you to create a basket. Perfect for Easter! http://cheerylynndesignschallenge.blogspot.com/
