# Borders # Corners

Basic Shapes Gone Girly!

Hello! Jodi here with something a bit different! I started scrapping long before there were such beautiful dies and diecut machines on the market. The only way to get fun embellishments were to create your own by paper piecing….I loved paper piecing! I love to be able to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary, which is just what I have done for you today!

To create a fun scallop border around the edge, I used the flower die, Cuties #3. Mini Pearl Rectangle Reflections Mega Doily was used to create the photo matte and the background layer. The French Flair Scalloped Stacker Nesting Dies, layered with the French Flair Classic Silver Stackers creates a fun background for the photo. The Border Carnivale adds just the right touch of lace and femininity to the ensemble. I hand doodled the swirl border, then stitched overtop. I added a bit of bling to the stitching for added fun and girly glitz.

The inspiration for this layout came when my Nesting Egg dies arrived….the set may include a darling little bunny, but eggs are not just for Easter! I just had to flip the eggs upside down and create a set of flip-flops! Yes! The flip-flops were cut from the smallest of the Nesting Eggs set, and the thong part is a photo corner from the Lace Deco C set. I added a bit of stickles and some bling to give them some girly sparkle! The base of the flower is a stamp, layered with Darling Daises. In this photo you can also see the details of the Border Carnivale.

Now for a cutsie little purse. The base of the purse was cut from the Classic Circle Silver Stacker ( second smallest size) . I cut the bottom of the circle off for the bottom of the purse. The handle was created by laying both the third and fourth size ovals together on my paper when cutting, creating an oval frame (Small Oval Classic Silver Stacker). I attached the oval frame to the back of the circle, added some bling and a bow. Next to the purse you can see the Frangipani with Leaves! Notice the details on the photo matte, Mini Pearl Rectangle Reflections Mega Doily.

I started the mirror by stacking layers of the Small Scalloped Oval Stacker Nesting Dies, and Small Classic Oval Silver Stacker Layers. The handle, as well as the lipstick were drawn out free hand.
I hope you have enjoyed today’s little adventure and take time to look at your dies from a different angle!
