Merry Christmas with Cheery Lynn Designs

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Sandy here with you, filling in again for Alison but I ran out of time with all the Thanksgiving festivities.  So I thought I would share a holiday tag I made a few months back with Cheery Lynn Designs dies and Distress ink.  I began with a piece of Cryogen metallic white paper, using my Cheery Lynn Designs Poinsettia embossing plate to add the embossed pattern.  I sponged Distress ink heavily along the edges and then lightly across the rest of the tag.  It really makes the embossed pattern stand out.  Using my Poinsettia Strip die, I created the beautiful flowers.  I just bend the petals down along the embossed line for dimension then stagger and stack them.

To complete my tag, I added a Holly Lace Flourish for some greenery, the larger die from the Colonial Lamp Post set of 2, and the smaller die from the Merry Christmas set of 2 (I trimmed off the snowflakes).
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out this week's Non -traditional Christmas colors challenge for a chance to win a $20 credit to the Cheery Lynn Designs store.

I love a snow photo…which always leaves me with loads to scrap. So when I saw the fabulous Cheery Lynn Snow flake dies I just had to have them.

To create the layout I have layered patterned paper under the photo added a journaling block and title. Then I have cut out the Snowflowers Set Two – DL226 out of white cardstock and layered them to embellish the layout.

Have a Cool Yule!

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here to share with you a festive Yule card created with several yummy dies from the October New release! I love the snowflake mesh and the fringe dies along with the Horizon Boutique Circle die! This card is folded off-center so as to accommodate the large 4¾" Horizon Boutique die. The snowflake mesh is actually on the "inside" of the card on the right side so as to "peek" out around the circle edge of the face of the card! The tips of the fringe were hand colored as well as the green leaves and vines.

Non-Traditional Holiday Shaped Card with Rhonda

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Happy Monday Cheery Lynn Designs friends!  It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

My project is an oval shaped card featuring our Oval Silver Stackers, Oval Stackers and layered with the Oval Horizon Boutique Stacker Frames.  To further accent the shape, I cut one of the Sentiment Frame #2 dies, then cut it in half to accent my top and bottom of the card.

"Holiday Wishes"

The birdcage die was such a pretty fit to this shaped card that I just had to use it!  You see the same Sentiment Frame a second time on the card, only cut from a few papers for interest.

I used mini silver bells for a few of my floral centers on the miniature roses. The coral flower was inked with white chalk ink to soften the color a bit.

I was inspired by this week's challenge to create a holiday card using a non traditional color scheme and I hope you are too. The details are available here. A $20 shopping spree to the Cheery Lynn Designs store is going to be awarded to some lucky participant!!!

Thanks so much for stopping over to visit us today on the blog, have a fabulous week!

Mexican Tile and Poinsettias

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Sandy, here with you again.  For my card today, I started with a green card stock base, 5 x 7 inches.  I added a metallic white panel that I embossed with my Poinsettia embossing plate.  Be sure to click on the picture to see the beauty of this embossing.  It really is lovely.  Next I die cut my Mexican Tile Pattern frame from green card stock and using spray adhesive, attached it to a red card stock base.  Then I just trimmed it on the diagonal and attached it to my card.  I think this pattern looks a lot like poinsettias.

Using red card stock, I die cut my Poinsettia Strip die two times.  This gives you enough petals for four flowers but I only needed three for my card.  I added a couple of green Holly leaves and then pieces of my Holly Lace Flourish.  Kind of classy I think.

Glittery and Gold by Susan Longman

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Hi, Susan Longman with you again. Today I have been browsing Pinterest and noticed in the world of papercraft (particularly scrap booking) there is a real trend for GOLD, GLITTER and FEATHERS at the moment. I have seen a load of layout in White and Gold so I thought I might give it a whirl on a card. My husband, not being aware of the trends, quite righty pointed out that the card design was probably more suited to Christmas but I wanted to reflect the trend in a birthday card.
“Feather” card by Susan Longman
Susan Longman48_1
To create the card I used my gold pigment ink on a white card base and stamped with a font back ground stamp (Kaisercraft) and then added a few circles using the lid of a spritz bottle in the same ink. I trimmed the edge of the card down an little and used the Francesca – B159 lace edge in a gold glitter paper. I then cut 2 of the larger “feathers” from the Quill & Ink Pot – B369, “fluffed” them out a little and tied them with some natural fibre twine and glued them in place. I have stamped the greeting (which could read Merry Christmas too) and matted it with the same glitter paper. A simple but very on trend card.

A Fall Thank You Tag!

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here to share with you a watercolored fall tag! I cut out all the elements of this tag on watercolor paper. I used both crayons and mica infused cake watercolors to create these fall leaves and back ground. Distress Ink rubbed onto the edges helped complete the leaves once they were formed with an emboss tool. The Thank and You were also painted with the mica cake watercolors and rubbed gently with the Distress Ink.  I really love how the Dimensional Leaves look with the embossed veins--so real looking!

Stepping Towards Christmas with Rhonda

3:30 AM 6 Comments
Monday greetings to you!  It's Rhonda here to host the blog for you today.

I've got a step card to share with you today with a bit of an unconventional holiday color scheme.  This card was created with our Step Card and Snowflakes dies and several of our newer release dies as well.

The Step Card die made quick work of creating the base for my card. I honestly just love this die!  Once I had my base and layers created, I inked and then stitched them down for a little added interest and texture.

I chose the Shuttered Window with Flower Box and decided to layer the Birch Tree die behind it.  I did cut the tree twice, then angled the top branches off to the side for this effect.  I modified my Bird a bit by cutting the back wing and angling it a bit, then I inked and added a coat of Glossy Accents.

My Family 8x8 Layout

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Good morning everybody,
Amy here with you today, as by now you all know I love to make layouts.
Cheery Lynn Designs has got me thinking outside the box which I really appreciate.
I'm totally hooked on making 8x8 layouts.
So today I have another one to share.

My Family
I adore using the gears so much. This time I left the cut-outs in my gear dies.
For this layout it looked better that way, something else I did different I cut them out of a piece of cardboard! That way they are thicker.
I did a lot of pasting on my layout and some glimmer misting.
The picture is a favourite of mine. I don't own so many old pictures but this one is very dear to me.
It's one of my grandfather (Arthur), my grandmother (Anna), my uncle (Evert) and my mom (Gerla) many year ago. On December 19th my mom turns 60.
My grandfather died in 2003 and my grandmother and uncle live in Florida.
I miss them very much.
now some close-ups:
