Snowing in July

3:30 AM 7 Comments

I love the Cheery Lynn snowflake dies, but instead of making a wintery card in the heat of summer, I wanted to show you how versatile these dies can be for any time of the year. I created this flower using only snowflakes. The base was made using the 3 layers of the Geometric Snowflake, and then adding stamens with the Snowflake 5 and 7.
So, if you've been tempted to add the snowflakes to your collection, but weren't quite ready for winter, just remember to look at the dies, and let your creativity run wild!
This week, the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge is Hot Time in the Summer (using summer colors). Be Sure to play along for your chance to win a gift certificate. Our next release is just a couple of weeks away, and you are going to love it!

Acetate fronted Card

3:30 AM 9 Comments
Hello again Cheery Lynn fans and how are you all today? Tamara here with your Sunday inspiration and today I have created an "Acetate fronted card".
Cheery Lynn Dies I used were:

The Square Classic silver dies are clear in the middle so it makes it so much easier to see where to position your cut which has enabled me to create the window.  I added the acetate to the back, Dimensional buttons are down the side and in the corner.  I have used the little stackers to create the spotlight stamp.

Here is a close up of the Little Circle Classic and Scalloped Circle and the Dimensional Buttons #3.  Take a look in the Cheery Lynn store for more options on the little stackers and LG nesting stackers and many more shaped dies.
Over on the Challenge blog you still have time to enter into our challenge "Celebrations" Check out the blog for more details..

Other items used
Lilly of the Valley Stamps, Bo Bunny paper, Copics and card stock

Homeward Bound

3:30 AM 14 Comments

Hello! Jodi here today to share another fun way to use the Cheery Lynn Designs frame dies on a 12x12 layout.
The Fathers Day Homeward Bound Frame Die perfectly compliments the background in the photo of my son.
I cut the top half of the die (goose/sun portion) from gold pattern paper, then trimmed the edges by hand to place at the top of my photo. I cut the bottom half of the die (reeds/cattails portion) three times from green pattern paper, giving me three pieces to create the border at the bottom of the photo.
I colored in the cattails with a marker, then added some Distress Stickles to give them a bit of texture. I’ve added clusters of Small Leaves #2, Pine Branches, and Pair of Ferns here and there, adding a couple of the smaller Darling Daisies for color.
The Celtic Heart is the ideal place to house my title. To the left of the photo, I added a Circle Lace Mega Reflections Boutique Doily. The blue layer and brown photo matte were cut using the Mini Pearl Rectangle Reflections Mega Die set.
There is still time to enter this weeks challenge for your chance to win the $20 shopping spree! Details Here

Celebrate....NATURE

3:30 AM 9 Comments
Today I have a cute little canvas to share with you.

Since our theme on the Challenge Blog is CELEBRATION, I decided that something involving appreciating my surroundings was what I wanted to focus on.
I've mentioned before how I love to save my Mary Engelbriet desk calendars for focal points on crafts and cards.  This was the perfect focal point for my canvas.

I then used lots of dies and just embellished the theme around the picture.

The rainbow is made from the OVAL dies, the sunshine from the Sunflower and the frame in black around the Mary Engelbreit picture is from CUTIES 3.

What do you think?  I just love this!  It is small and just draws you is because it has so much to look at.
There there is the message!  Such a big message on such a small canvas!
I hope you have enjoyed my post today.  This has been Jeannie with The Polka Cabana with this mini canvas, have a great weekend!

Guest Designer - Sheila Lygo

3:30 AM 8 Comments
Kianel is taking this week off so I asked Sheila Lygo from Doubtfire's Musings if she could fill in for us and she graciously accepted.  Here is a bit about Sheila (she is camera shy, lol)

Hi everyone, here are a few facts about me.. My name is Sheila AKA Doubtfiresmusing  and I'm a craftaholic. My particular downfall  is dies! especially Cheery Lynn dies.  I live in a small market town called March here in the UK, alongside John, my long suffering husband of 36 years. We have two grown up daughters who in turn have given us four adorable grandsons & one beautiful grand daughter.  I've been a crafter for many years now; tried my hand at most crafts but my favourite by far is stamping & colouring with my beloved Copic markers. I feel so honoured to be asked to be a GDT for Cheery Lynn Design.

Check out this beautiful card she made for us using a cute new image from Saturated Canary.

For the lace around the card's edges she used the beautiful Francesca border die.  Behind the image she added English Tea Party Doily.  I think the Pennant die is a perfect accent and of course the gorgeous Exotic Butterfly Small dies.  Adding the bow wrapped around the Mini Fanciful Flourish completed the card perfectly.

Thank you, Sheila for filling in for us today.  Your card is a true crafting inspiration.

'Celebrating' Christmas & Our Weekly Spotlight Top 3

3:30 AM 10 Comments
Hi and Good Morning everyone :)  Alison here today and WOW!!! What amazing, stunning and gorgeous creations we had last week!  It was another tough week to narrow it down to just 3 fabulous entries for our spotlight, so the Top 4 (in order of entry) chosen by the DT are:

Well done ladies, just gorgeous, inspirational work, it was such a pleasure to visit your blogs.  Please contact us for your Weekly Spotlight Badge to display on your blog.

Now I decided to make a Christmas card for our 'Celebrations' theme this week, without using any obvious christmas dies, papers or embellishments just to see if I could still make it look jolly festive! :) lol.

My card base is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, as the stamp is quite large and I didnt want to squish it up or cramp it.

I hand-stitched my papers to taupe coloured bazzil card and tucked the Anastasia border just underneath to the left.  I then layered the Horizon Coved reflection die in contrasting colours and the gorgeous little mini-doily was from the Polynesian Sails die (its a little extra in the middle of the die and so cute! :))  I made the flower in the top right using one of the corners from the Lace Corner Deco D die set and used a pearl brad to hold it together.

The wintry looking flower in the bottom left was made using 4 layers of a 3 leaf die and stamen from the Build a Flower set also held together with a pearl brad.

All dies used on this card are:

I really hope you find time to join in our challenge this week, there is still lots of time to enter and I cant wait to see what everyone is celebrating! :)  Dont forget there is always fresh daily inspiration from the rest of the very talented DT over on our Cheery Lynn Designs Inspiration blog too!

Thanks so much for visiting our blog and I hope everyone has a smashing week,

Alison - aka 'xtglx'

Holly Poinsettia Card

3:30 AM 12 Comments

I wanted to make one last Christmas card before July is over and I think this is stunning.  I created the card base and all the panels except the two in the center using my Scalloped Square XL Stackers and the coordinating Silver Square Stackers dies.  On the base of the card I created a three petal holly using the medium size leaf from the Holly Leaves die.

Using the new Holly Leaves die , I have also created a wonderful poinsettia; just look at the veining on the petals.  I die cut 5 of each size leaf from red card stock and 5 of the largest size from green card stock.  Starting  with a small circle of card stock as a base, I just layered my leaves to form the flower then added the green leaves as the last step.  The beautiful paper is from Authentique.  Finished size is 5.5 inches.

Children are a Gift From God

3:30 AM 11 Comments
Good morning Cheery Lynn fans!  With 6 grandchildren I have had plenty of opportunities to make baby announcements.  The one I'm sharing today is more for a gift and not just a simple announcement. To make this announcement I used a fold out card by Ruby Rock-It. I used the English Tea Party Doily, Border Carnivale, Mini Fanciful Flourish and Stacker Flower 6.

Be sure to check out the Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge Blog. The theme this week is celebrations. You can win a $20 Gift certificate towards your favorite die if you choose to play along!

Fondue Fun

3:30 AM 7 Comments

I have my great-grandmother to thank for this picture. She made a scrap-book for me when I was little, and had this photo, along with art work that I had colored at school, in it. I think I learned from her at an early age to document the little things in life.
I had so much fun using my Cheery Lynn Designs dies on this page. The Sunflowers are really easy to make, but add so much warmth and dimension. My small flowers were made with the Miniature Rose. I used the Garden Gate, turned on it's side to ground my flowers. For greenery, I used my ever faithful Fanciful Flourish and Dimensional Large Leaves #1.

My photo is framed with the Mini Pearl Rectangle Mega Doily - it is so cool to be able to adjust your cut to get the size frame that you need. If you're not sure how to do this, check out Mike's Reflections Boutique Workshop Video to learn more about this fantastic series of dies. My large doily is the Mega Polynesian Sail.

Under my photo, I added some fancy borders to my layers of patterned paper, using the Daisy Lace Bracelet and the Dancing Doily Lace Border.

We would love to invite you to play along with the weekly Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge. The theme this week is celebrations. We will be choosing our top three favorite entries, as well as awarding a $20 gift certificate to one talented scrapper.

Cheery Lynn Dies I have used are

The base has been cut using the biggest Heart Reflection Die which is 71/2 X 71/2 once cut. I then used one of the smaller dies in the kit to create a sort of frame around my image. The flowers I have distressed used DI's.  For the centres I have used the dimensional buttons which I have threaded with string. The Flowers are sitting both of the flourishes that have been cut from two different colours.

You Make Life Beautiful

3:30 AM 9 Comments

Hello! I have a fun 12x12 layout I created to share with you today! Doesn’t my niece have the most precious smile!

To create my layout, I started on the inside with the largest of the Lace Square Heart Reflections Die, layered with a Mini Pearly Square Reflections Die. Around the heart square, I added the Francesca border. Underneath, I cut four pieces of the French Lattice Small Frame to fill in my background. Complementing the lattice is the Queen Anne’s Lace border. Finishing off the corners is Lace Corner Deco F. Tucked under the photo is the French Pastry doily. The Lace Script font has the perfect elegance to compliment the layout.
To create the large white flower, I cut Flower Stacker #5 from 8 layers of coffee filters, finishing the center with Build a Flower #1. I’ve added some fun embellishments using the Celtic Heart and Colonial Lamp Post dies. Other flowers and foliage include the Miniature, Medium, and Large Roses, as well as the Princess Tree, Stacker Flower #1 Leaf, and Small Leaves #2.
There is still time to enter this weeks challenge for your chance to with the $20 gift certificate! Details Here
