Happy Cat-o-ween by Jenny Alia

Hi, it's Jenny here today with a Halloween card featuring one of the new Halloween dies from the new Fall and Winter release. This cat is perfect for Halloween but would be really cute on an all occasion or birthday card too. It has a little spider dangling from it's tail but it's so simple to snip that off.

I used a die that normally makes flower centers to create the black flowers. They are from the Embellishment #1 die and I love how light and airy they are. The yellow-green flowers are small Tea Roses that have been embellished with green glitter glue and the black centers are from the Embellishment #2 die set. The white flowers are Dandelions, I added them in for a pop of color and I like the texture. I used them instead of adding leaves.

I cut the doily once out of black card stock and then the center of the doily out of whit paper. I cut it out with a Classic Circle die from the L4 set.

Hi there Cheery Lynn friends! It's Karen here today sharing a shabby

'blessings' card that can be used for several occassions!

To start, I layered, from bottom to top. the French Pastry Doily

and Circle Classic Silver Stacker. Then, I took the

Circle Classic Small Silver Stacker and placed on top of the

French Flair Little Stacker, and then die cut both pieces at the same time.

This creates an open center, so you can see the background paper

that I used on the bigger Circle Classic Stacker.

Then, I made two flowers using the Black Eyed Susan Strip,

along with the leaves from the Frangipani with Leaves die set.

To the center of each flower, I used the Embellishment #1 set and then

added a shiny and sparkly rhinestone center to each distressed flower!

Lastly, I used the Mini Fanciful Flourish - Right and Mini Fanciful Flourish

and die cut one of each and placed behind the flowers. I distress inked

some crinkly ribbon to match the card colors and finished the card by

distressing the edges!

With Love Card by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here and today I am showcasing the new Lords and Commons Super Doily which compliments the other dies in the Lords and Commons range.

Let me show you my layers. I cut out my Stacker Frame and and then placed my Super Doily into this frame aligning up and holding it in place with low tack tape. I then shaded the edges with Milled Lavender and mounted onto Lilac Cardstock.

Next I replaced my doilies back into the centre of my card.

I cut out another Super Doily and added a square of lilac paper behind it. You will see I mounted this at a different angle and layered on my Shasta Daisy which had been shaded with ink and a little Flower Soft added to the centre.

To finish off my card I added the sentiment With Love, a few pearls and the little heart shapes from the waste of my Stacker Frame to the corners.

Doll Tag by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone.

It's Julie here today hosting the blog. I thought this week it would be nice to make a fun tag for a change.

My tag this week is pretty self explanatory but let me point out some of the layers to you. I started off cutting a layer of paper to cover my tag and used the Border Carnivale at one side, with the Anastasia Border at the other side. I also layered my Lattice Valance Border on each side to add a contrast of colour for more interest. My Horizon Fishtail Banners were paper pieced at either side to extend it slightly.

My heart was cut out and I added back in the inside part that I had die cut out. I layered Daughter twice for a shadow effect.

My butterflies were cut out in patterned paper and angel wing added to the back.

I used my tiny flowers to decorate my doll stamps dress, headband and shoes to give a little more texture. Finishing off with some gems, ribbon and stickles.

End of Summer Time by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, it's Julie here today. Can you believe we are at the end of August already. In Scotland the nights are starting to get darker earlier in the evening and my beloved little Robin has re-appeared back in my garden. All signs summer time is about to end and the clocks will go back soon and winter will be upon us. So this is where my inspiration for this weeks card came from.

My card is 8x8 in size and fits the Mega Doily Die perfectly. With this die cut I used patterned paper, dry brushed on some Gesso and inked the edges to give a shabby feel. My Clock, Victorian flourishes and corner dies were cut out in a lilac shade of paper. I stamped a crackle stamp onto the clock and corners and then inked the edges on all these die parts and once again dry brushed some Gesso on.

I added some glitter glue onto my clock face and little diamantés.

My flowers all started off as white cardstock. They were cut out and I added different shades of ink, a little stamping onto the Shasta Daisy for texture and a little flower soft into the centres. My leaves were cut from green card stock and the edges inked.

My butterflies were cut out in pink patterned paper and I used the angel wing to cut out the back of the butterflies in white cardstock, again inking the edges.

Thistle Embellishment Tutorial by Julie Lavalette

Happy Easter to Everyone. It's Julie Lavalette here today hosting the blog and I can’t believe how fast this month is going in as Guest Designer. I love sharing my crafty ideas with you all and today I thought I would show you how to make a Thistle from Embellishment#1, when I first saw this die I thought it would make a perfect Thistle. Isn't it wonderful how we can all look at a die and see something different in it.

I noticed wooden breadboards in our local Bargain Shop and just thought this was begging to be altered. After giving it a Shabby paint effect I cut out the Chicken Wire Frame from white cardstock and then pressed some areas into my embossing ink and used silver embossing powder on to it to give a metallic effect. With the areas left not embossed I dragged the paper through some distress stain to give it a rusty effect.

Now for the magic of Cheery Lynn dies - to make My Thistle.

Step 1 – Paint a cocktail stick green.

Step 2 – Using Embellishment#1 and cardstock, cut out 6 large & 2 medium in purple/lillac and 1 large & 1 medium in green and emboss all pieces in the centre so the paper curls up.

Step 3 - Glue medium green one onto base of large one and then glue both onto cocktail stick. Gradually gluing and layering on other pieces until you have 3 large left. With these ones crush at the base and glue together. Let the glue dry

Step 4 – Now we want to join the 2 pieces together. Onto the crushed piece that is not on your stick, you want to place glue at the base and a third of the way up this piece. Now place into the centre of the stick and gather all the paper up and hold together until the glue grips. Try to be patient at this stage until your glue has thoroughly dried.

Step 5 – Start to curl your edges with tweezers on you green parts and the medium die layer of purple you had placed in. This all helps give texture.

Step 6 – You now want to ruffle the top part of your Thistle so placing a couple of fingers around the middle to support it, bend your papers back and forward.

Step 7 – Cut out green cardstock using your flourish leaf strip and glue a few leaves into place. The B216 Wreath Strip would also look fab as leaves on this.

Well I hope you all managed to follow my tutorial and have fun making a Thistle. As you can see this die is fantastically versatile, as if you look at my small purple flowers they are made from the same die and they also look great in the centre of larger flowers.

Celebration Time at Cheery Lynn

Good Morning Cheery Lynn Fans, Donna here with the card I made following this week's challenge of "Celebrate"

I've used a Sassy Cheryl image called "Avery Celebrates with Cake", colored with Copics, and cut out using the Grey Classic Circles laid on top of the Nautical Wheeler Doily in blue, then laid onto a scalloped circle cut out of kraft cardstock. The blue paper and the blue cardstock behind were cut out using the scalloped squares.

I've used the Celtic Heart which I cut out of white cardstock and also kraft cardstock, and mixed the two together, the sentiment is a mix of Birthday and Wishes from the Best Wishes set of 2. Flowers were created using the Daisy Strip, the darling Daisies and the spiky type flower was created using the Embellishment #1. Tiny butterfly from the Mini Dimensional Butterflies and the Mini Flourish. Pearls were created using a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

Friendship Card

It's nice to be back creating with Cheery Lynn Designs dies for 2013!

I created this card a few weeks ago now, playing around with my first Tilda stamp after being inspired by the joint venture with Hampton Art.

The card has plenty of layers, starting with the Lace Square Heart Mega Doily, then just the tips of the English Tea Party showing beneath the Circle Classic, and French Pastry base.

The smaller heart from Two of Hearts is perfect as a base for the Sentiment Frame.

Flowers were created using the Build A Flower Embellishment #2, and Build A Flower #1. Foliage consists of the Flourish Leaf Strip, Olive Branches, and Pine Branches.

Diamond Stickles was applied to highlight edges of the various die-cuts used.

...and pearls in the centre to create more realistic flowers...

Grandmothers Garden Tag

This week for Cheery Lynn Designs, I have created a Large Tea Tag, which represents my Grandmothers garden. I have wonderful memories of my Grandma, and her magical, beautiful garden.

This project has used a considerable amount of dies, so I will give a basic run-down and the rest can be found in the material's list. The base of the tag was covered with the Chicken Wire Frame, using gold cardstock. Sadly, gold never ever photographs well. The larger flowers on the tag were created from the smaller of the two petals in the Cherry Blossom die. Other flowers are from the Build A Flower Embellishment #2, and the Darling Daisies. So much foliage was used, including the Pair of Ferns, Olive Branches, and the Fanciful Flourish - most die-cuts were given a 'nip and a tuck' to fit, and then overlapped, for a more realistic appearance.

The Victorian Picket Fence, was cut from chipboard, and inked with Tea Dye distress ink. I neatly tucked in a fairy, as I was 100% positive there were fairies in my Grandma's garden! The Spiderweb added a little more character to the tag, and I couldn't help but add a spider...

The Little Things

Hello! Jodi here with a 12x12 layout inspired by this weeks challenge, Autumn colors.

I just love to play with the border dies from Cheery Lynn Designs! They have so many details, and can be implemented on cards and layouts of any style. Here I have layered the Anastasia Border atop the Border Carnivale for a bit of fun, and added the elegant Tiffany Border around the photos.

A fall cluster must have a Sunflower! I love the details cut in to the flower center! I cut two layers of flower, staggering the petals as I adhered them, then added the flower center with foam adhesive for dimension. The burgundy Mums were created by cutting two layers each of the large, medium, and small Darling Daisies. Using the tip of my stylus, I molded the petals forward to mimic the Mum. I them assembled them staggering the petals of each layer as I went.

The main flower in this cluster was cut with the Stacker Flower #5. I used two layers each of the large, medium, and small spiky flower center from Build a FlowerBuild a Flower Embellishment #1. The smaller yellow flowers throughout the layout are found in the Build a Flower Embellishment #2 set.

Circle of Flowers Card

Hi Everyone,

This week I have created a card for Cheery Lynn Designs using a variety of their flower dies, and included the gorgeous Chicken Wire die-cut as a background.

I used the Circle Classic Series dies to create a frame for my arrangement, as I wanted to showcase the delicate details of the Chicken Wire die. If you click on the below photograph, you will see how the coils of wire can be seen in the die. The flowers were created using the Sunflower die, with several layers and a curling of the petals using a kitchen skewer. The Sweet Williams were created by folding each petal concertina style, and then building in layers. The spindly flower was created using the Build A Flower #1 and just adding layers of the die-cut and centred with a brad to complete. The filler flowers are from the Build A Flower #2 die, and really are a perfect size to team with all the other Cheery Lynn Designs 'flower' dies.

The foliage was created by adding in snippets of the Wreath Strip, teamed with Olive Branches, and several of the smaller leaves from the Small Leaves #2.

To complete the card, I applied the Lace Corner Deco A to corners, and added my favourite butterfly, from the Exotic Butterfly Mini die-set.

violet winter - Kianel

Hello,

Kianel with you today for a new card to show you. I love purple and violet colors for cards so today is a winter themed card with those colors.

The card is 14x14cm and is made using XL scalloped square stackers and Large silver square stackers for a perfect match with the printed paper. In the top right corner, i used a die from the Lace deco E corner.

Then i used the dutch square scalloped doily that i placed as a diamond instead of a square. To cover the middle, i used the Mini pearl french flair mega doily size 4.

The main image is stamped on watercolour paper cut with Large silver french flair stackers.

In the bottom right corner is the sentiment stamped on one of the sentiment frames #1, decorated with a dimensional mini butterfly.

For the flower i used several pieces of the embellishments set#1 placed on a Lace corner deco D die.

Leaves are from Build a flower #2 together with the mini fanciful flourish.

The smallest flower is done with miniature rose and medium rose dies.

and i added dimensional mini butterflies here and there too.

The stamp is from the last Magnolia collection and the flourish one from Upsy daisy.. The dies are from Cherry Lynn dEsigns. Papers are Canson and Magnolia. Colouring is made with Distress and Creative Inspirations paints. All other embellies are from a french store.

Halloween Fun

Good Morning and Hello Cheery Lynn Fans, Donna here with my first card on the Inspiration Blog in almost a year.

I've decided to follow our great Halloween challenge and make a Halloween card as we don't celebrate it here in the UK as much as Canada and the USA, but I still love Halloween, so whenever I can make a card for it I grab the chance.

I used this image from The Paper Shelter, as I love all that hair she's got, and with it having a spiderweb and spiders in it, it tied in with the dies I would be using. I've cut it out using the Coved Rectangle Classic LG nesting dies. I've used the Spiderweb, the corner spiderweb, the silly spider in the upper right hand corner, and of course Going Batty (now Halloween wouldn't be complete with some bats or three) I've also created a lovely bloom in the corner using the Sweet Williams Dies, cut out of heavy white cardstock, then sponged with chalks, wet, crumpled, twisted and dried out to give the lovely shape to it. The stamens inside are from the Embellishment #1. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps, and papers from Bearly Mine Designs and tag is a printable from a shop on Etsy.

My finished card is 6x6 inches minus the items hanging over the edges...lol
