Vintage Easel Card by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here today and I am sharing with you how to cut an easel card using your dies. Let me talk you through my photographs.

My card was folded in half. Notice how I have placed my die slightly off the edge of my card so it doesn't cut my fold when I run through my die cutting machine. I next placed the die to the opposite end and cut. I now had my shaped card.

My topper was cut to form the top of my easel card in white and patterned paper for the top and bottom part. You will also see in the second photo how my folded card looks opened up. My layers were glued together to form my easel card.

My doily was double heat embossed for a smooth finish and some bling added into the centre of the flowers.

Love these little butterflies for an accent. I double layered them and added a touch of bling to the centre.

My Rose was cut out of white cardstock and a little Frayed Burlap Distress ink added. This was then mounted onto my bow with a few leaves, my corner die and little butterflies.

Flutterby Butterfly by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, Julie here hosting the blog today. Hope you are having a nice weekend and getting some crafty time to yourself. I love the elegance of white on white cards and with this weeks challenge being Things with Wings, I felt inspired to combine both together.

My corners I creased slightly down the middle and glued at the edges to give a 3D effect. I also layered up my dies but rather than gluing totally flat onto my card, I layered with silicone glue to encourage the light to reflect in between the layers to show the beauty of my die cuts.

My butterflies I sprayed some glue onto and added an extra fine glitter to also capture the light and give some sparkle.

Cuties Card by Julie Lavalette.

Hello, Thanks for popping over, it's Julie Lavalette here today. This weeks Challenge here at Cheery Lynn is Lots of Layers – how could I resist making a card using this theme.

I adore the versatility of the Cuties strips and decided to make a whole background out of the Cuties 1 today.

Using white cardstock I cut out several strips. I had the idea of giving my background an Ombre effect (light to dark) so after die cutting, I inked them all up with co-ordinating light and darker shades of Distress. Next step, I wove the strips together going forwards and backwards with my paper between the petals and aligning my rows up. Once completed I glued in place onto a layer of cardstock before layering onto my card. I hope you all love the result as much as I do.

You will notice wrapped around my centre image is also the Cuties strip. This time I mounted my inked strip onto the back of my image along with a little brown card to make my image ‘pop’. I then twisted the little petals back round with a pair of tweezers. I love this effect and each Cuties strip gives a different look when you do this.

My flower was cut out again from white cardstock and inked in the co-ordinating shades I had used in my background.

Happy Anniversary

Sandy here with you today for Cheery Lynn Designs with an anniversary card I created. Using my Scalloped Square Stackers and match Silver Square Stackers I created my card base. Then I die cut the beautiful Lilith Doily w/Angel Wing and the matching Lilith Doily Edger. The doily is so pretty, I hesitated to cover the center with my sentiment. There is a Fancy Corner Cuts #1 which also matches these dies but I had my background adhered to my card base and it was too late to use them. So I added a few Lace Deco Corner pieces.

The last step was a Black Eyed Susan (don't you love that center) and some leaves created with Judy's Blooms. Finished size is 5 5/8" square.

Keepsake Box by Julie Lavalette

Let me introduce myself to everyone. My name is Julie Lavalette and I stay in Scotland in a small town situated between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I was overwhelmed with excitement when I was asked to be Guest Designer for the month of April. I have been papercrafting for about 8 years now and would say my style has developed into Shabby Vintage and I find Cheery Lynn dies always work beautifully with my projects, be it a card, scrapbook page or using them in mixed media. Over this month I will share my knowledge and hopefully inspire you to think 'out the box' with your dies.

Todays project is a Keepsake box that I intend to keep little memories my children made or gave me as they were growing up. I started with coating my plain wooden box with a coat of gesso inside and out to seal it. I then applied various colours of paint blending and applying to my box with a baby wipe. Finally. stamping script and crackles onto it also with paint.

For the top of my box I cut out the French Lattice Small Frame die x 2 with kraft card. I then dry brushed some paint over it to give a shabby feel. I sliced a section off both cut outs so they would connect together at the right size for the top of my box. I saved the small shapes, these were distressed and stamped with crackles. This gave me a contrast when I paper pieced them back onto the lid. I cut out my flourish and again distressed the edges and applied to the lid with multi medium. I then edged with Cuties 3 strip around the edge of the box.

The centre piece I wanted to give a look of petals wrapped delicately around my topper. I die cut the Cuties 3 strip with kraft card and edged with distress. I then pressed my embossing tool into the centre of the petals to give texture and put a tiny little cut into the strip with my scissors, this makes the paper now more pliable to go around the topper with ease and makes the petals sit perfectly. I layered 2 rows around the centre.

I love making my corner dies look like a metal embellishment. To do this, I firstly cut out with kraft card and double embossed with a metallic copper embossing powder. If you heat from underneath and you will get a smoother finish. The base of the box is supported with wooden beads painted.

Now lets go inside my keepsake box. Can you see I used the little shapes from my lattice frame die again and down the side and I have used the Cuties 3 strip as an accent once again.

I used the Expandables Tiny Borders strip into my little sections. This is an amazing die, that gives you lots of different decorative strips all at once and the length is only determined by the size of the piece of paper you use, as it has little markers on the die to expand it. Clever !!
