Retro Signs with Laurie Schmidt

12:30 AM 0 Comments

Hi everyone! Laurie here from Stamping Up North
Today my card features two of Cheery Lynn's dies from the Retro Release. There are 10 dies in this release, and they are all so fun! I find myself reaching for them again and again!

I decided to make a Birthday card for a friend's son who loves robots. I cut out one of the robots from the Robot Buddies set in black and orange. Then I added some silver foil arms and legs.

I also cut out two signs in some fun patterned paper using the Retro Sign die set.

I stamped and colored the Happy Birthday sentiment and then adhered the signs and robot. I added a few funky stars with enamel dot centers cut out from the same set.

Happy Birthday Sports Pack

1:00 AM 2 Comments

Hi everyone!

Laurie here from Stamping up North sharing a Birthday card I made with Cheery Lynn's Sports Pack. The equipment is ALL so fun....I couldn't decide which one to use...so I used them all! Perfect for a sports fan's Birthday!

I arranged them into a group and stamped the sentiment on a pierced circle, and then adhered that onto a lattice. I added an enamel dot in the shape of a star.

The Sport Pack die set is really a great addition to your die collection. I love the detail on them all, and can think of tons of cards to make with them!

Pop up Happy Birthday Card

1:00 AM 2 Comments

Hi everyone, Laurie here from Stamping Up North!

For today's card I used 2 of Cheery Lynn's new pop up dies. I LOVE these dies! They are so much fun.  As you can see I used the pop up celebrate die as a sentiment on the front of my card, and the Happy Birthday as a pop up inside.

First I adhered a panel of some patterned paper, then I added a Cheery Lynn phonograph. It matches my paper perfectly!  I cut out the celebrate twice and adhered that on top. Then I stamped the sentiment, "Happy Birthday to a real classic."

For the inside of the card, I followed the directions on the video here. Then I added the hat, pipe, and mustache from the Men's set.

Hello Cupcake

12:30 AM 0 Comments

Hi everyone!

Laurie here from Stamping Up North sharing a birthday card I made with Cheery Lynn's cupcake die. I chose some pretty lavender gingham paper for the background for my cupcake. Then I added a bright red cherry and a green leaf from the Floral Bouquet Kit. I popped it up with some foam dots.
The little flowers are actually from the Mandy Doily die....I added some tiny pearls in their centers. I adhered the bright red sentiment "Hello" below and stamped my birthday greeting inside.

Spring Birthday by Laurie Schmidt

12:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi everyone!

Laurie here from Stamping Up North sharing a Birthday card today. It seems I am always in need of Birthday cards, especially in the spring. Spring makes me think of flowers, so I decided to use the Floral Bouquet Kit for this card.

I started out with Cheery Lynn's Lattice #2...such a pretty background pattern. I cut it out in black and backed it on some grey paper, adding some pink flowers from the Floral Bouquet die set. The centers have enamel dots, and the leaves are from flourish #13. I stamped a small sentiment on the bottom in black.

I am always amazed at the awesome detail in Cheery Lynn dies!

Here's a list of dies I used for this card:

Penny the Piggy by Debbie Brownmiller

3:30 AM 1 Comments
Hi
It's Debbie hosting the blog today from Debbie's Time Out. For this card I have gone country. I think Penny the Pig   is so cute so I wanted her to be my focal point. But after creating this card I think the gate is as much the focal point as the pig. But they look awesome together.
For the gate I just cut strips of wood grain paper, curved the tops of the slats and layered  them onto black cardstock to create a gate. The hinges  really finished the gate off to make it so realistic.
The Happy  and Birthday  sentiments fit along the boards perfectly.
Now isn't Penny the Pig   just too cute. I cut the pig from a pattern pink paper and inked the edges. I placed black CS behind the eyes, nose and the word Laugh.  It always makes me smile to see this pig on a card.

Thanks for visiting the blog today and for all the comments you leave. I hope I have inspired you to try creating a country card. Have a crafty day my friends.

8x8 Nautical Themed Layout by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here today. Thanks for all your lovely comments and likes on my Shabby Butterfly card last week, truly appreciated. Today I am sharing with you an 8x8 Scrapbook Layout using a photograph of my Dad in the early days of his career in the Merchant Navy.

I started off by tearing out a section from an old map and adding some Distress Ink on to it to age it further and mounted it on to Cardstock which had been torn and distressed at the edges with my Distress tool.

I cut out my Ships Helm and added highlights with a Gold Pro marker.

Next I cut out my Anchor and highlighted the chain.

You will see in this photograph I layered it up twice for a shadow effect, cutting the die cut in half gave me the expansion I needed for this effect.

My frame was cut out and highlighted with some Gilding Wax. My Ships Helm Die was once again accented at the side of this frame.

I trimmed the photograph of my Dad and added a White Border to help make the White on his Cap and Shirt pop forward. I don't yet have the Word Die Dad, so I paper pieced from my words Daughter and Birthday to get the word Dad.

I now trimmed a lighter shade of Blue Cardstock to 7.5 inches square and placed my Deutschland Border around the perimeter, once cut I Distressed the edges and mounted on to White Cardstock of the same size to highlight the beauty of this die.

Finally layering all my Layout onto an 8x8 piece of Dark Blue Cardstock. I added the Fishtail Banners which were trimmed down and curled at the edges adding a little star in the centre.

I hope this Scrapbook layout has inspired you to get creative. Thanks for stopping by today and Good Luck to Everyone entering our Weekly Challenge for your chance to win a $20 spending spree at Cheery Lynn Designs.

Birthday Card by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, It's Julie here hosting the blog today. This week I am showcasing our new release die Vienna Waltz which comes in a set of 3. I have made a card which is a simplistic design, but with the detail of the dies it gives a beautiful ornate look.

The Vienna Waltz dies are designed to inter-link with our Circle Classic dies. Should you decide to combine them together you can layer a perfect match to the front or behind, as I did on this card.

You will see I cut out plain cardstock using the circles to make my ornate details pop on the white card and also cut my floral paper nesting it neatly into the centres on the front. I cut my die in half and placed it at either side.

My centre die is using the next size down in the Vienna Waltz collection, layering coloured card behind again to show the die cut off. My Happy Birthday has been layered with 2 shades of card for a shadow effect. Stickles and a little bling added onto the centre die to finish.

Doily Flower card by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Hello the Blogging friends, its Julie here today. It has been the most beautiful week full of sunshine in Scotland and yesterday I went around our local Garden Centre with my mum. It's full of so much inspiration seeing all the gorgeous flowers in full bloom.

This week my card is for a Birthday which would be suitable for a variety of occasions by simply changing the wording with our word dies.

My flowers were cut out using white cardstock and inked to shade them. I layered various leaves and my tiny flourishes to form an arrangement on my card. My doily I also inked and added the Angel wing die offset to the back of the doily to make everything POP. You will see my Border strip was also inked in two shades and matches my Doily.

Good Luck to everyone entering our Weekly Challenge.

Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you all next Saturday.

Julie x
