Oval Shaped Card

One of the great things about Cheery Lynn Designs LG Stackers Nesting dies is the size of them.  You can use the larger sizes to make card bases and yet they will fit the smaller die cut machines.

For my card today, I used the next to the largest of the dies in the Scalloped Oval Lg Stacker Nesting dies set.  It measures about 6.5 x 4.75 inches, perfect for a 5x7 envelope.  I used the coordinating Silver Oval Stackers for the holly background paper.  I added a Polynesian Sails Oval to showcase this adorable image from Karen's Doodles.  I added a gold hanger suspended from two Olive Branches.

 
I finished the inside of the card by adding more paper and another Polynesian Sails Oval.   The DP is from the Graphic 45 Christmas Past collection.

Wow, I am so impressed with the entries to the challenges Cheery Lynn Designs has been hosting each week!  I just love visiting each of the blogs and seeing what each person has created, what a wonderful inspiration!    Do not forget this weeks challenge – the theme is “Shaped Card – anything but square”... give it a go, you could just win yourself a $20 voucher to spend on some Cheery Lynn Designs dies...

This week, I have created a card with the most inspiring and beautiful die, Heartland America XL & L. For some time now I have wanted to play with these dies, they really are elegant! However, I did not want to lose the intricate details of each die-cut piece, so I opted to make a card to showcase the dies.

I used the base of the Heartland America XL die (the die comes with two pieces) to cut my pink cardstock base from.  I carefully aligned the die on folded cardstock so that it would not cut through, but leave a fold line.  The 2^nd part of the die set is the detailed die, which I cut out of white cardstock, and detached all removable components.  Secondly, I used the HeartlandAmerica L die, and cut two pink cardstock pieces with the base die.  The first piece is used inside the card, the other on the outside.  After inking all edges with Tim Holtz distress ink, Spun Sugar, I placed the layers of the card together which is pretty self explanatory by looking at the photos.

I just adore the little pieces which are a-top the card, that are a part of the middle of the die set. There would be so many ways you could incorporate these into so many creations/projects...

As this card is an unusual shape, and would not sit as a normal card would on display, I added a piece of ribbon on the back to hang the card...

Hello Cheery Lynn Fans..

Today I have a Christmas card to show you. The image is from Magnolia and is colored with Derwent pencils. I really don't know which design papers these are.. they are from my stash, so if anyone knows =)

I have used the biggest flower from the Jud's blooms set.
The leaves are from the beautiful die set; Dimensional Small Leaves.
You also notice the big snowflake? guess you can't miss it LOL.. its so beautiful! Its the Snowflake 7

Wonderful You

Hello! I hope you are having a Cheery Saturday! Jodi here with another card today. I don’t know about you, but I like to step outside my comfort zone and push myself to try something new. I often find that the results are surprisingly fun and easier than anticipated! This week I pushed myself to create a window card.

I started by selecting the lovely Nautical Wheeler Doily which has a center cut out, saving the center diecut for the inside of my card. Before attaching the doily to the card, I found the center of the card using the window of the Silver Stacker Layer and cut a hole in the front of the of the card. After cutting the window, I attached the doily diecut.

Now I am ready to adhere the center diecut, but first I dressed it up by backing it with a Scalloped Circle, and attached a chipboard sticker. To complete the card, I added Pair of Ferns, and leaves from Stacker Flower #1 under the bow.

In Love with Cheery Lynn Designs

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Forgive me for not jumping right into the Christmas Season with my post.  Time passes much too quickly and I did not want to think about Christmas when I had a kitchen full of Thanksgiving dishes to take care of.

So, I made a wonderful love/Valentine's card.

I used a new release die called Heart within my Heart and also our Heartland America Large die on this card.

Instead of using the Heartland America die as a die, I used it to emboss my background.

I just adore the new Heart within my Heart die.  It has a thicker outline that is a lot of fun and I love all the small heart cut outs.  You can see I saved them all and used them as embellishments too.

I know you will love all the new dies, the flowers, the doilies, the hearts and everything else are just amazing to work with.

Monochromatic card - Kianel

Hello dear Cheery Lynn Designs lovers!
Kianel here with you today for my weekly post and today i am showing you a monochromatic...sort of...card. to make the base of the card, i used the XL square stackers and XL silver square stackers. Papers are Bazzill and MME. Stamp is a Sarah Kay from Stampavie. Colouring is made with distress inks and Creative Inspirations paints. Cheesecloth, lace, ribbon, pearls, charm and stamens from my stash.

 I played with several layers using half of a XL square stackers and half  of a XL silver square stackers. All the dies are covered with ink and then some paints to give them that shimmer look. The stamped image's base is a Cardmaker's stackers, and i also used the Anastasia border on the side.

 Here i used the olive branches die, the dimensionel small leaves set #1 (if you cut this one in a white paper and then covered with dark ink, it just enhances all the beautiful details of thoses leaves)and the Cherry blossoms die.

 As i wanted to give my card a more autumn feeling, i decided to use the garden gate (that i cut the bottom out to fit the space i had) and cut it out in cork. I then took a fanciful flourish and made several bits of it to make it pop up from the gate. I glued small flowers on the gate too and added a leave from the dimensional small leaves set #2. And then i took my dimensional butterflies bundle plate to choose the smallest one that i inked, painted and decorated with pearls (you have many butterflies on that plate and all from the different sizes!!!).

Cheery Lynn Designs Cuties!

 

Part of the November new release dies from Cheery Lynn Designs was their new Cuties; three different dies to make your own flowers.  They are so much fun!  I have found that they work best with light weight card stock or text weight paper.  To get the results you see here, die cut one Cutie.  Cut it in half then glue just along the bottom, layering them so the petals are staggered.  Roll them up with a quilling tool; gluing down the end.  Then simply peel back the petals to create your flower. Check out the new Nautical Wheeler Doily; it makes a fabulous base for the image from Bugaboo Stamps and the flowers.  I added Holly Lace Flourish as well as Olive Branches to finish it off. 

Click on the photo on the left for a better look at the gorgeous flowers.  Starting from the top,  I used Cuties 2, 2 and 3.  I layered the roses onto Cheery Blossoms cut from coordinating DP, bending the petals for added dimension.  .Finished size is 6" square.

Floral Arrangement

This week’s creation was inspired by the wonderful dies at Cheery Lynn Designs, and the beautiful, spring weather we are experiencing at the moment in Australia, though it won’t be long and our summer will arrive...  those blooms will soon wilt, but not my flower arrangement!!

For my project, I have used a lot of dies, and created an arrangement which has a three-dimensional appearance.  I have tried to photograph the arrangement so that this can be seen clearly.  There are leaves, flowers, flourishes, pine branches, etc popping up all over the place.

It seriously is not that hard to put together, just time consuming, so do not be afraid to give it a go.  My ‘handy hint’ would be to lay die cuts where you think they should go, when happy with the arrangement, take a photograph to refer back to.  You can then pull apart your temporary arrangement, and use your photograph as a guide.

Firstly, I made all my flowers, inking and rounding edges – the flowers I used are: Sweet Williams, Judy’s Blooms, Flower Chain Border, Cuties 1, Miniature Rose, Cherry Blooms and the ScallopedWindow Stackers.  The Scalloped WindowStackers flower was created by inking the edges, and then spraying the die-cuts with glimmer mist.  While the die-cuts are wet, just crinkle into balls, before gently folding back out – when still wet, add a pearl/crystal brad centre, then place flower aside to dry, making sure your petals are the way you want them.  Easy!

The “Flower Chain Border” I simply cut the flowers from the border, placed on a mouse mat, and curled with a pop-stick edge!!  Yes, I do have the fancy tools, but I prefer the more simple – they work better for me!  J

The leaves and flourishes I used are:  Tropical Flourish, Pair of Ferns, StackerFlower 1 Leaf, Fanciful Flourish, Tropical Leaves, SM Leaves 2, Pine Branches and Olive Branches.  The Olive Branches played a large part in the 3D appearance.  I adhered the small end of the branch and when dry, curled the leaves upwards (or wherever I wanted them to go).   All the leaves edges were inked, some glimmer misted and others have distress stickles as well.

Border Carnival was added as the ‘tablecloth’ – and of course, I just had to add a couple of butterflies, and a dragonfly.

The urn or vase is an item I have had in my ‘stash’ for quite some years, but I am sure a google search (gosh I love google!!!) would bring up a mountain of sources to buy from. OR, perhaps create your own out of some clay!

Today I made this card.
The image is from Kenny K and colored with the Copic markers. Design papers are from basic grey..
I have used the new fabulous dies from Cheery Lynn; Cuties 1, Cuties 2, Cuties 3 and the Rose in combination with the Tropical Flourish.  Aren't they beautiful? you can do so many nice things with these flowers! I used pearls in the middle, some ticket stamps and Stickles!

Hello! Jodi here on this lovely Saturday! Today I have a card to share with you. To start, I lightly stamped the background. Using my distress ink, I added subtle bits of color. Rather than adding layers, I wanted a soft look so I stitched a border. Keeping it light and soft, I layered a few of the dies starting with the Large Sunflower Doily pulled to one side. Next I placed the Border Carnivale horizontally across the card. Then, layered the Fanciful Flourish, tucking in a few leaves from the Small Leaves #2 set. I wrapped the card with ribbon and bow. I added a few flowers I created using the Cuties #3 and Miniature Rose dies. I really love that I can make such fabulous flowers to match my projects! I topped the flowers and flourish with a butterfly from the Exotic Butterfly small #2 set. The finished card is 5 1/2x5 1/2 inch square.

Only a card?

I guess you could say that I have ONLY made a card today.

But, that would be quite an understatement.

I am using some of our brand new dies and I have to say, WOW, I am in love with them all.

Here is a look at my card.

What do you think of all those flowers?

I just love how elegant they all look.

The new dies I have used are:

Hearts D/Vine, Cuties 1, Cuties 2, Cuties 3 and Miniature Rose.

The background I embossed with the Wittle Weavers plate. 

I got a little carried away with the flower making. They all would not fit on the card, so I used them for props.  The largest flowers sitting next to the card are made from the smaller flower in the Sweet Williams dies.

What I love most about this is how elegant it all looks together.

Doesn't it remind you of a brides dress and bouquet?

I promise you, if you love flowers like I do, these new flower dies are going to make you giddy.

I called this post "Only a Card?" because, yes this might be only a card, but I just think it could be one of my favorite creations yet!

Autumn card - Kianel

Kianel here with you today to share acard i made for this week's challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs which theme is AUTUMNand that you can find by clicking on the logo.

I definitely like to work with those colors and i also used my Cheery Lynn Designs dies of course. So here is the card and some close ups. To make the base of my card i used the XL square stackers. Around the stamped image, i used the Doily stacker circle 2 which i glued on a XL circle stacker i inked in orange. I finally glued around it 2 pieces of Cuties 2 die that i also inked in orange and decorated with pearls. To adornate the bottom and the top of my printed paper, i used a"ribbon eyelet border with piercing" that i cut in half and placed under the paper.

 Here i used parts of the tropical flourish die, and leaves from dimensional leaves small set # 2. Under the rose you can see a combination of Judy's blooms and Cuties 1.

 I stamped my sentiment on inked paper and used the window circle stacker to cut it out. The transparent back helping me to center it perfectly. I then placed it on a Little scalloped circle stacker and added bit of the tropical flourish die and the mini exotic butterfly that i both painted with Creative Inspirations paints.

The stamp is a Sarah Kay from Stampavie and a Whimsy stamps sentiment. The colouring is a blending of Creative Inspirations paints and distress and Adirondack refills. The papers are Canson watercolour 300gr, Bazzill and MME.
