Peony Tutorial

3:30 AM 12 Comments
Good Morning Cheery Lynn Fans!  As promised a tutorial for the Peony Blooms I created from some of my favorite Cheery Lynn Dies, but first I want to share my card with you.  Mother's day is right around the corner and I wanted something pretty to give my mother.  I created several copies of this card in variations for all of the other Mothers in my family.

 ok....lets get started
Supplies
Here is your supply list for the flower only I'll give you the list for the rest of the card at the end.
Cheery Lynn Pair of Ferns die - optional
ink - optional
2-3 sheets double sided patterned paper of choice
wooden skewer
Therm O Web Zots in medium

 Cutting The Flowers
Cut 5 flowers from Stacker Flower 5 ( I cut 3 from one side of the patterned paper and 2 from the other side of the paper.)
Cut 3 from the small Sweet Williams die - 2 from one side of patterned paper and 1 from the other side of paper
Cut 2 Sunflowers from paper of your choice.
Cut 1 of each of the 2 Pair of  Ferns die
Ink all edges of petals if desired. I inked both sides of each flower.
Rolling The Petals
Start with the base of the flower and roll the bottom petal edges under. This will be the base of your flower.
Roll the remaining Stacker Flower #5  flower petals up.  Here is how they should look.

Repeat with all remaining flower cuts. Here is what they will look like when you're done. If you need to ink your flowers again now is the time to do it.
Begin layering your bloom with the first flower you rolled under, alternating the patterns. Adhere them at the center with a Zot. Be sure to offset the petals as you layer them.
Layer all remaining flowers offsetting the petals.
When you are done layering all the flowers, squeeze towards the middle cupping the flower.  This will make the petals tighter and give it the appearance of lots of layers.
Ink any edges that you might have missed.
Adhere your bloom to your card and add any embellishments you desire at this time.
Adhere Ferns.

Card
For the base of the card I used the following Cheery Lynn Dies
Have fun creating your Peony Blooms!!

Welcome {Spring}

3:30 AM 10 Comments
Spring not only brings warmer weather and beautiful flowers, but often it brings brighter colors to our creative palate.

I thought this large wooden birdcage (18" x 9") from Kaisercraft would be more fun to decorate my door than a typical wreath. And of course, I needed lots of beautiful flowers made with my Cheery Lynn Designs dies to decorate it.

The vine was created by putting two Mega Fanciful Flourish die cuts together.
The roses were made using the Miniature Rose, Medium Rose, and the Large Rose. If you don't know how to combine these 3 sizes of flowers into one stunning rose, then check out that tutorial that Sandy Hulsart wrote, for very clear directions. The name of the paper collection that I used for this project is Tiger Lily - so I thought I needed some name-sake flowers on this project (although mine remind me more of the Wild Azaleas that bloom around here). I cut the Stacker Flower Three, and then painted a bright orange Creative Inspirations Paint around the center of the flower. After that was dry, I spritzed it with Smooch, to create the distinct markings. I rolled each petal around a paintbrush, and then used a little embroidery floss for the stamens. The Aster Daisies were made with two layers of Stacker Flower Four and resin flowers for the centers.

I hope you have been inspired to try using your Cheery Lynn Designs die cuts on all kinds of projects! It's always fun to think outside of the box. The challenge this week at the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog is For Mom - don't you think this would make a lovely gift for Mother's Day?

Booklet card - Kianel

8:06 AM 9 Comments
Hello my dears Cheery Lynn designs lovers!
Kianel here with you today to show you that a Cheery Lynn die never is just a die but several.
To demonstrate that, i decided to use the Sophia's heart die from the doily assortment. This die is soooo delicate, i just loooove it!!! There are several designs in just one die!!!
That picture is just to show how I've separated 2 different parts of the die. I didn't pull out all the little pieces from the center of the die because i won't be using this part, but you sure have another die there! lol!).

Here is the front of the card. You can see several layers there, all made using different dies. The basic shape of the card is made using the largest of the mini pearl rectangle mega doily to get this cute little scalloped effect all around the card. I then flipped it in 3 using the scoreboard from Diamondcardcraft.
Several layers of different dies were used to make the center of the card. to cut out Tilda, i used the XL circle stackers as a stencil to get the perfect size and not cut out her legs, lol. I then placed it on the central piece of the Sophia's heart die to get the heart border all around. Under that, i cut a printed paper with the large Silver circle stacker. Then i used the Mini pearl circle mega doily and taped everything on. One more layer is made with the large sunflower doily and i added a layer again with printed paper to put under. The whole thing is taped on one side of the card so that it opens.
I then added the gorgeous small lace faerie queen with angel wing die and used both parts.
To help my card close correctly, i added some lace to bow and made a key using the heart key die which i inked, stamped and embossed.
The flower is made using Cutie 4 die, twice in white paper but inked one in purple and once in pink tulle. Pretty cool right? I just love the different textures it gives to the flower. Two leaves from the stacker flower #1 leaf are inked and placed under.
Here is what the card looks like when opened. You can see the 3 parts of the card and the back of the large sunflower doily.
Here is a close up of the back of the large sunflower doily which i covered with printed paper. I then cut out pieces of the border of my Sophia's heart die that i had left aside. I love how it just looks like lace!
I also used the 2 pieces of the two of hearts die and just inked them.
On the left side, you can see one of the exotic butterflies small and a piece of the Lace rose and flourishes that i just inked a little.
The other flourish of the same die is used on the right side with another of the small exotic butterflies.
Have you seen the gorgeous fonts that Cheery Lynn designs is carrying? Just go and see that section because you will find some amazing dies there! This beautiful big "E" letter is coming from the Flourish font. Isn't it stunning? I then completed the name with letters taken from the 1/2" slightly script basic upper and lower case font: perfect size for a card! The different frames of all layers are made using the Mini pearl rectangle mega doily  and i just fixed the sizes as i already showed you how to: endless possibilities!

Material used:
all dies from Cheery Lynn Designs. Stamps from Magnolia. Papers from Canson and Pion design. inks from versafine and distress. Shimmer paints and embossing powders from Creative Inspirations.

So that was it for today and i hope you enjoyed it. Just always try to find different uses for one die and you will double or triple your collection, lol! Don't forget to take a chance at our weekly challenge and maybe win a 20$ shopping spree to buy some new dies. Take care, love from France, Kianel.
