Beach Bum by Laurie Schmidt

12:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi everyone!

Laurie here from Stamping Up North, back with another summer themed card to share.

It's been raining and dreary the last few days up north, so I decided to make a cheerful, sunny card.

My thoughts drifted to the beach, and I made a little beach scene with the Surfs Up set. I added some sand by using just a small piece of a pierced circle tucked behind the wave. The tiny flower with the cute smile is from the Oval Companion set. I added the Whimsical Sun and Clouds, and backed everything on a pierced circle and scalloped rectangle.

"Fun & Sun" with Laurie Schmidt

12:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi everyone! Laurie here from Stamping Up North.

Today I'm sharing a card using some of Cheery Lynn's "fun & sun" summertime dies. I started with a pierced circle and added a sun from the Whimsical Sun and Cloud set.

The Surf's Up set has 10 fun pieces including this surf board. I inlaid the letters in a bright and cheerful yellow. The leaves from the Mehndi Botanicals 2, and the flower from the Doily Companion Oval set, reminded me of the tropics. I added an enamel dot in the flower's center, and stamped the sentiment in black.

I hope you have a fun and sunny day!

Surf Shop With Lisa Blastick

3:30 AM 5 Comments

Hi! Today I have to share this super fun 3D Surf Shop that I made using Cheery Lynn Designs Dies.
The shop is custom made out of cardstock and embossed. The dimensions are 4 x 5 inches and adding another inch to the sides for the peak. I cut the window out using the second smallest of the rectangles and then die cut the 2nd and 3rd smallest for the window frame in the front and the back.

Here on the side, I used the smallest die from the circle and then I placed the life savor in white and green over the opening. Of course I need some palm trees and a bit of grass on the bottom.

Here is the back view. It is hard to see but all the waves are layered 3 times, so it appears to look the same as it does in the front.

Here is the opposite side of the surf shop. I basically kept them the same.

The top of the shop using surf boards and tropical flowers. I cut strips to look like straw by fussy cutting every .25 inch, then I used my flower maker to curve the ends up for a tiki roof.

I closer view of the waves, seahorse, beach chair and beach ball.

The other side showing the surf board layered with a cut seahorse on top.

The bottom sea shells and starfish are flat in the ocean.

It's A Dry Heat! with Lisa Blastick

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Hi everyone! I'm back today sharing a new card for Cheery Lynn Designs using their New Release North America and Canadian Provinces. I live here in Arizona, so I had to share the popular "It's A Dry Heat" card. This card was inspired by a postcard here in AZ. I placed the "Arizona State" in the middle of the card. The State was cut 3 times in each color and then I fussy cut the white cardstock behind it. It really makes it pop out a bit more. In the center is a star from "100 stars"

The "scalloped frame" was cut in light purple and kraft and then placed together. The cactus was made using "surfer's up set" surf boards and I embossed them to look like cacti. I also used the small bushes in kraft since it is hot in the summer and everything turns a bit brown.

The sun was made using a "sunflower" and the font is Microsoft Word Bleeding Cowboys. The little skeleton is a stamp that I fussy cut out. Lots of pop dots behind, but you could also leave it flat for mailing out.

Hope you enjoyed!

Cool Dude by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Hi everyone, it's JULIE here today and I'm sharing a card using the New Release words Cool Dude. Let me take you through my techniques.

My centre die cuts were all layered twice for a shadow effect. My Palm tree was shaded with Copics and a little Distress Stickles added to leaves. My wording and arrow were all heat embossed with Red Tinsel Embossing Powder to make them stand out within my design.

I re-inserted my letters to the surf board after heat embossing them in the same way as above.

Tropical Christmas with Jenny Alia

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi, it's Jenny hosting the blog today with a card inspired by this week's challenge theme, Non-Traditional Christmas Colors and the song Mele Kalikimaka.  I thought some of the new travel dies from the latest release would be perfect for a tropical themed Christmas card.  I made a shaker card using the Circle Stitch & Cut Tool set.  I cut a large circle and then cut out the center using a smaller die from the Circle Stitch & Cut Tool set to create the ring.  A piece of plastic toy packaging was then glued to the back of the ring.

The palm tree and surfboard are from the newly released Surf's Up die set.  They are hidden but I also added a couple of the grass clumps set on the ground. To finish off the scene I added a small stitched circle for the sun.  I then sprinkled iridescent fake snow on top of the little scene and trapped the snow by putting a layer of double sided foam adhesive all around the ring.

I hope you like the result.  I love making little scenes on cards and with the bright colors this was a fun one to create.
