Make a Stencil from a Die by Julie Lavalette

Hello Again, Its Julie Lavalette here today with some news. After finishing my Guest Design spot for April, I was ecstatic to be asked by BJ and Sandy to join the wonderful Design Team here at Cheery Lynn.  I am so excited to continue sharing my ideas using their amazing dies with everyone – Dreams do come True.

Thanks for all the comments last week on my Wagon, I was delighted to hear how much you all loved it. I stopped by several of your blogs which had the blogger address left in the comments area last week and noticed many of you doing Mixed Media projects. So this week I decided it would be nice to show you another use for your dies in this style of craft.

I used a little  frame for my project purchased from a bargain shop. Using a sheet of Acetate I cut out my French Lattice Small Frame die. I now had a stencil. The idea in my head was I wanted to make my background look like an old Antique Delft Tile and thought this die would be perfect to use.

I  layered some texture paste over my newly made stencil onto the back of the frame and once dry gave it a coat of Gesso to seal. I then stamped little Butterflies all over in different angles. Next placing my stencil back onto my work  I brushed on some crackle paint. This way the paint only went onto the little tiles. When this had dried I rubbed some distress ink into the cracks. Don’t you think it looks like an old tile now ? 

I used the Shasta Daisy to make some lovely bright flowers. The little buds were made using the same die but instead of layering up this time I just crushed the paper at the base on one layer and placed in at an angle.
