# Build A Flower # Butterflies

The Graceful Gardenia

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday to you!

For today's inspiration, I wanted to share with a you a Gardenia Flower I created using my Build a Flower #3 dies.

There are so many flowers you can create using your Build a Flower dies, the possibilities are truly endless! The Gardenia flower is one of my favorites, I think it might have something to do with it's presence being so tranquil and elegant. I decided that such a lovely flower deserved a home worthy of it's beauty so thought I would use it to decorate this pretty bird-cage.

I wanted to include a bird in my birdcage so here he is protecting his beautiful Gardenias. Just in case you are wondering, I picked up this cute little bird at my local Dollar Store. As well, since the Gardenia has waxy type leaves so I used glossy accents to give them that wet/waxy look. This was the first time I tried this technique and will use it again, the leaves look real.

Here's a list of the dies used for this project:

B178 - Flourish Leaf Strip
B264 - Build a Flower # 3
B268 - Koala Bear (just the tree)
B277 - Leaf Edger
B278 - Lady Kate Edger
C184 - Judy's Blooms
DL161 - Small Lace Faerie Queen w/Angel Wing
DL181 - Large Sunflower Doily
DL221 - Spring Flower Burst Doily
XM-6 - Inverted Scalloped Circle

I hope you find some inspiration both here on the Challenge blog and on the Cheery Lynn Designs Inspiration blog. You still have time to visit the challenge this week and put in your entry where the theme is Flowers (Must be made with a die)! With your entry, you will have a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs! Remember, the challenge closes on Sunday night at 22:00 Eastern time. I can't wait to see what you create!

Have a Cheery Day!

  2. LOVE your gorgeous gardenias, Joann! That is one of my favorite flowers, and you perfectly captured them on paper. I can almost smell the beautiful fragrance! Brilliant use of the doily at the top of the bird cage and the inverted little circle for the hanger. The Lady Kate edger is the perfect finishing touch! Beautiful creation!

  6. How cool is that!!.. I just happen to recently purchased two cheery Lynn dies in Jan. I've been using them on my last 3 layouts posted on my blog. I love the two i have.. both borders. My newest layout Called Hippity hop, I was delighted to create a border with six cuts with the same border die... B133 Lace Light Deco... and the border I felt was so unique I love it!! lol I wish I could afford all your dies.. I really like them, so much better than those kind that have a thin sticky foam that you stick across the cutting edge. I think its suppose to prevent the paper from sticking in the little spaces... but you know what.. I'd take your die cuts ANY DAY over the other kind actually I bought two of the other guys at the same time, and I haven't used them once, just have so much difficulty with getting a crisp cut so I end up struggling to get the pieced to pop out. I know yours will cut always, and if the paper doesn't come out with a light tap.. thats what the little holes are made for... Pokem all out! LOL
ANYWAY, I diffinitly signed up for your blog, and I'm sure I'll fall in love with even more dies. I'm not into making cards.. but still find the dies work perfect for my 12x12 layouts too. I'd love for you to take a peek at them, March, February, and January all have the borders used.

I see you have challenges here... are they only for card projects... or can 12x12 layouts be submitted if the rules for the challenge are meet?
