Flower Vase with Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

I hope that all of you are finding loads of inspiration with the January new release dies. I have been having a blast and I just had to show you another project that I have put together using some of the new dies as well as some 'oldies but goodies!'

I have had so much positive feedback from the last flower vase I did that I decided to try my hand at another version. This one with a bit of a twist : )

Here is a look at the finished vase, instructions are at the bottom of this post:

To make this vase I simply created a template by drawing a rectangle 4" wide by 7" tall. I then drew a line down the middle so I could find the center. Since I wanted the vase to be tapered I marked a line 1.5" on each side of center at the bottom of the rectangle and joined the top and bottom. Now I have my basic shape for my vase 4" at the top and 3" at the bottom.

Once I had the basic shape I simply needed to add a flap on the right and the bottom so I could glue it all together.

Here is what my template looks like:

Vase Template

I actually cut this 6 times, 3 with DP and 3 with card stock. Once all the pieces are cut, I scored each piece in the middle (2" from the left side) with the paper aligned at the top of my Scor-Pal.

My vision for this vase was to use the gorgeous Canadian Kaleidoscope Tiny Doily at the top so I layered 1 piece of DP and 1 piece of card stock together and centered the doily in the center and cut through both layers. After all 6 doilies are cut, place a piece of acetate between the layers to give something to attach the doily to.

Here is what the pieces look like before you start to assemble:

I hope you have as much fun with this as I did!

Here's a list of the dies used for this project:

B147 - Olive Branches
B151 - Cuties 3
B155 - Large Rose
B278 - Lady Kate Edger
C184 - Judy's Blooms
DL128 - Two of Hearts
DL235 - Canadian Kaleidoscope Tiny Doily
SF-3 - Stacker Flower 3

I hope you can find some time to visit the challenge this week and put in your entry where the theme is Snowflakes! With your entry you will have a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs!

Have a Cheery Day!
