We will be sharing projects featuring dies from the Fall and Winter new release from now through August 3rd in four parts. I hope you'll join us each day. We will be beginning with Christmas and Winter dies and then showcasing Halloween, Fall & Thanksgiving and then we will finish off with a new die for a New Year!
Be sure to stop by and leave a comment each day. At the end of the celebration, we will select a random post and one lucky person who leaves a comment on the post on that day will win a $20 gift certificate to Cheery Lynn Designs.
Be sure to head over to the Cheery Lynn Designs website to view all the new Christmas themed dies. They are FANTASTIC!
I have to admit that I always have a hard time making Christmas cards in July when it's 95 degrees outside! I decided to ease my way into things by starting with a non-traditional color scheme.
This Whimsical Christmas die set made me think of Dr. Seuss, so I thought the non-traditional colors would be perfect and I really like the way this turned out.
I cut all of my dies in multiple colors and I was very careful to retain all of the pieces (positive and negative) when I removed the paper from the die. I started with a silver base for my stockings and then carefully pieced each one together with the colors I wanted. I then added it to my background square which was created by cutting a white Lattice piece and adhering it to white cardstock. I thought a solid white background was too plain, so the white on white lattice was just right.
For the presents, I also cut the die in multiple colors. I pieced each present individually in the colors I wanted and then lined them up along the bottom of the card panel, slightly overlapping them.
I cut the Merry Christmas sentiment in pink and purple and layered the pieces, slightly offsetting to allow for a shadow effect.
Cheery Lynn Dies Used:
My card is topped off with a pretty bi-color double-loop bow made with two ribbon styles from the July Ribbon Club assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I also added a layer of white mulberry paper under the main panel. I love the soft feathery feel you get when you add mulberry paper to a project.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Don't forget, we have a Christmas in July challenge going on. We'd love to have you enter for another chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Cheery Lynn Designs. It'll sure come in handy once you see all the gorgeous new holiday dies!
