Remember this?? - Kianel

3:30 AM 16 Comments
Hello dear Cheery Lynn Designs fans!
Kianel here with you back on my usual posting day for another creation i made using the marvellous Cheery Lynn designs dies.
Today i am finally allowed to show you the result of the tutorial i made last year to make your own background paper. This was the background i ended up with, using the exotic butterflies dies in various sizes both as stencils and stamps i made with foam:

Never got to show you the final result though as the page had been published in a french magazine, but i now i can so here it is:

To make my background, i used the exotic butterflies small #2, Exotic butterfly extra large, and stamps and distress inks. (see the tutorial).  To decorate this lay out, i used the small exotic butterflies # 1, the tropical flourish die and the XL scalloped oval stackers combined with XL oval stackers to make my frame around the picture.  We didn't have the flower dies at that time so they are all premade.
I hope you will like this layout, i don't do so many of them because i am totally lost with this much space to "fill": what can i say, i'm a cardmaker, lol!

*******************************************
And speaking of cardmaking, here is a new card i created for Cheery Lynn Designs. I love to give myself challenges from times to times so my challenge this week was to make a card using dies i've never used before. I did it and, apart from the flourish, the miniature rose and the butterflies, the other dies were brand new. Here is the result:
For the base of my card, i used the XL square stackers. I then created an opening using one of the beautiful frames that Cheery Lynn carries. The stamp and papers are coming from Magnolia.
When you open the card, you have this "window" created with the Dutch doily rectangle frame that is the same on both sides.
This flower is made using one of the corner dies from Lace corner deco B that i cut out 5 times and flipped as accordeon. I then glued them on a circle of paper and added a flower in the center made using the miniature rose die which is covered with Creative Inspirations paint and the leaf that goes together with it. I ended with adding pieces of the fanciful flourish die here and there.
Here is a close up of the small dragonfly that i just slightly inked with distress.
Here you can see both sides of the window i created using the Dutch doily rectangle frame. I cut it once and placed it on cardstock that i cut just a few millimeters larger than the actual frame. And did the same on the other side.
Here i used the 1st letter of the name of the person the card is dedicated to and this one is coming from the absolutely divine Flourish font.
The sentiment stamp is coming from Whimsy stamps and is placed in the center of 3 Sunflower dies that i inked with distress and Adirondack inks. Another fanciful flourish adornates it.
Have you noticed that Cheery Lynn Designs carries beautiful hearts in their sortiment? Well, it's worth giving it a look and hard to find the one you like the most as they are all beautiful. This one is called Celtic Heart.
And last but not least, 2 beautiful butterflies from the exotic butterflies small set are slightly inked and decorated with half pearls and placed in the inside of the card.
Well, i hope you've enjoyed those creations. Don't forget our challenge blog with a chance to win a 20$ shopping spree every week! Lots of love from France, Kianel.

Make your Own Background with Cheery Lynn Dies

3:30 AM 9 Comments
Hi ladies!
Kianel here with you today.
As we are starting our butterfly themed week here at CLD, i thought it could be fun to show you how to create your own background paper using CLD dies. Of course you can use your Cheery Lynn Designs dies to die cut paper and make decorations but wouldn't that be fun to just use them and create your own stamps and masks? So here is a tutorial to show you how to achieve that! And believe me, i had so much fun making this background paper. Now i just have to find time to finish it with photo and embellishments...LOL!...and i will show you the final result in a forthcoming post of course.

STEP 1
I chose to work with a non textured cream 12"x12" paper. First i covered it with ditress ink "antique linen" (light coloured ink) using a sponge. I took the Cheery Lynn die "exotic butterfly large 3" (DL119) and placed it on a matching sized piece of foam. I placed everything in the Cuttlebug using the Cuttlehug to get every single detail of my butterfly. I did the same with a piece of double sided tape paper. I haven't got any but i am sure that Cheery Lynn foam is best for that use and you just need to cut once.
I then adhered it to the back of my foam butterfly and there was my stamp ready to be mounted on a block.
I did exactly the same using "exotic butterfly small set" (DL113) which you are going to use in step 4.

STEP 2
Carefully cover your large butterfly stamp with Stazon opaque white ink and apply to your inked paper. Do the same with your small butterfly trying to create a chain on the side of your paper. When it is dry, use your sponge to cover your whole paper with distress "tea dye" which is darker. The magic stuff is revealed: the distress will not stay on the stamped images and they will remain clear!

STEP 3
In a 240gr paper, cut one big butterfly and 2-3 small ones. There you have your die masks.
To get deeper effect, cover your stamped images again and work with an even darker distress like "brushed corduroy" just around your masks, not everywhere. Place your hand on your masks each time you are covering this area. Work carefully as you don't want to tear up your masks.
Leave the die cuts on your butterflies as masks. Using a text stamp, apply over your masks (don't forget to take the ink off the sides of your stamp to avoid a straight rectangle. Apply your text stamp randomly on your paper using the same technique.
To have a more vintage look, distress your borders by sanding them and apply distress ink "walnut stain" which is the darkest one on all borders.

 STEP 4
I used a foliage stamp from FLORILEGE DESIGN (french stamp company) to decorate my borders. Use the stamp you've made in step 1 with the small butterfly die and cover it with brown ink. Stamp randomly on your page.

STEP 5
Add some butterfly stamps (the ones i used are coming from a french company called katzelkraft) but with very little ink on it to just make shadows  and Finish your handmade background using a white gel pen and decorating your images.
And voilà!!!!
Here are the dies i used (click to go directly to the product)

As you can see the possibilities with Cheery Lynn Designs dies are just endless so have fun playing with these! and don't forget to pop by everyday here to see the stunning butterfly themed creations of my dt mates.
Love from France, Kianel.

Easter Layout

3:30 AM 6 Comments
Hello there Cheery Lynn fans! It's Tanisha here with a really fun Easter project.

Yep, it's that time of year...already! The clocks spring forward this weekend, which means, more daylight hours and the promise that the Spring and the Easter Bunny are on the way! Can't wait!!

I used several Cheery Lynn Designs products for my layout:

Dimensional Buttons
, Nesting French Flair Dies, Large Rectangle Stitching Plate, Wittle Weavers, Crafters Foam Sheets, and Embossing Pads

The Wittle Weavers die was just perfect for creating a theme inspired embellishment for my project. I weaved the strips together, adhered to a piece of scrap paper and then ran it through my Epic Six with the 2nd smallest French Flair die to create a woven die cut.

I adhered a sticker on top of the die cut with foam dots to create a 3-D title block.

I die cut the smallest French Flair die and added lots of texture with the Rectangle Stitcher Plate. I inked the edges, cut them in half and then created a border down the left side of the layout.
I love these dimensional buttons! I cut them from both crafter's foam sheets and patterned paper. Once layered, they can be used just like regular buttons.

That's it for today!! Don't forget to check back often as our DT posts a new project every day!

Until next post...have a great day!

More Holiday Projeccts

3:30 AM 6 Comments
You know, last week I said to myself, "I'm not going to create a holiday project for my next post". Then I opened my drawer with the ton-o-unfinished alterable projects in it and found this 3 piece frame set that I purchased from Target for $2.50, earlier this year. As soon as I saw it, visions of plum danced in my head and I found myself doing exactly what I had planned NOT to do. LOL! But you know, sometimes you just have to go with the flow!

I used the 2nd smallest french flair die to cut paper and crafter's foam. I adhered the 2 together to add some dimension to the die cut. I ran the chipboard alpha through my Epic Six with the dotted swiss embossing plate to add texture and interest to my letters before inking them and adhering to the frame. I decorate each letter with a die cut snowflake and pearl.

For this card, I cut circles using the smallest die in the XL nested circles set, cut them in half and aligned them so as to create a scalloped border. I die cut snowflakes and used them to add texture to the snowflakes in the patterned paper.

Here are the products that I used for these projects. Click on the pictures to find the products in the store.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!! Have a wonderful holiday season!!
