This die is really a 'show-stopper'. I cut the sunflower twice in dark yellow cardstock and lightly inked the petals and the flower center. I also used a stylus tool to shape the petals. Then I layered the pieces offsetting the petals. I added the stem and leaves under the flower and 'planted it' in one of the nested flower pot dies. For the flower pot I cut two pots and I cut the top rim off the second piece to layer on top to give some added dimension. I also inked the edges and shadows on the pot.
I used the Fleur de Lis Border Set to add a little interest around the outside of my cream base. The sentiment was stamped and then cut with the largest Pierced Banner die. I lined up one side, cut half way and then turned the die around, lining up the holes on the side and cut the other half. This gave me the dove tail look on both ends.

You know how I love to finish my cards off with big bows, but this time the sunflower wanted to take center stage. I added a small loopy bow made with burlap string to the bottom of the card above the sentiment. It added a nice rustic look to the card.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Wow what an amazing new die...I love the flower pot too. Great card
ReplyDeleteBonnie this is just beautiful. Love your shading on the sunflower and pot. I like the way you added dimension to the pot by layering the rim of the pot. The fibre bow really adds to it.
ReplyDeleteI love that sunflower die and have it on my wish list. And, lengthening the pot was a great idea as that is one big sunflower and I thought a bigger pot was in order for it too!
