easter card - Kianel

4:30 AM 5 Comments
Hello friends!
Kianel here with you with an easter card presenting a stamp from the brand new Magnolia collection "butterfly wishes". This week too I used the "coved rectangle" nesting dies to give the shape to my card as i love to make several cards with the same shape.
I made 2 frames using 4 different sizes of the "coved rectangle" nesting die that i totally covered with shimmer paints from Creative Inspirations. And also put the outer frame on 3D pads. The little frame shapes the stamped image.
I embossed the background paper of my card using the "lattice 2" plate to give texture. To get the embossing effect, use the embossing pad instead of just cutting the die:

Here are the dies i used for this card (click to go to the product):

Wishing you the best week from a sunny France today and don't forget to pop by everyday to see the beautiful work of my DT mates! Love from France, Kianel.

Little Stackers Nesting Dies Flower Tutorial

3:30 AM 7 Comments
I recently learned a new paper flower techinque using Lunch Bag Kraft paper from Aphra Boyler's tutorial right here.  I loved her flower design but wanted to tweek it just a little bit so that I could incorporate my beloved Cheery Lynn Designs dies to re-create my own flower for this little Easter card.

Flower Created Using Cheery Lynn Designs Little Stackers Circle Nesting Dies

Supplies and Tools you will need to create this card include:

Little Stackers Circle Nesting Dies (the first three smallest dies in the set)
Paper Towel
Hole Punch
Decorative Brad
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Antique Linen)
Green Cardstock (for leaves), Pink and Rustic White Cardstock for card base mats
Easter Graphic printed on Rustic White Cardstock from The Graphics Fairy

From Kraft lunchbag cardstock, die cut three each of the smallest circles from the Little Stackers Circle Nesting Dies. Also die cut another 13 circles of the third from the smallest circles of the Little Stackers Circle Nesting Dies.

Lightly mist all the circles with Tattered Angels Antique Linen Glimmer Mist and blot dry with a paper towel.

To create flower center, emboss three each of the first three smallest Nesting circles using the Large Rectangle Stitcher Plate.

Crumple up circles into balls and then straighten them and layer on top of each other with the largest toward the bottom of the stack.

Punch hole through entire stack of circles (in the center) and attach a decorative brad to hold them all together.

Set aside flower center. Use one of the other 13 circle die cuts as your flower base and roll each of the other 12 circles into cones. Attach to the circle base with glue.

Attached the cone petals with glue as shown until the entire base circle is covered in cone petals.

Adhere flower center to petals with glue.

Hold flower in palm of hand and squeeze to scrunch up flower petals and add more dimension.

Pull and arrange layers until you are satisfied with the way the flower looks and attach to your next project as desired with Dimensional Leaves die cuts.

For the card base I cut a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card base from Kraft Cardstock and added mats of Pink and Rustic White cardstock that I cut using the Card Makers Stackers Nesting Dies (the first two largest dies in the set). I adhered the flower and an Easter themed graphic from The Graphics Fairy to complete the card.

Peace, Love & Rock & Roll!

3:30 AM 4 Comments
How is that for a title?
How is that for a theme?
I have no idea why I came up with this, it just happened.

Jean Claude and Philippe Pea happily volunteered to be my models today.

Let's go in order, shall we?

PEACE - Veggie Style

Pretty creative huh? What the world needs more of is Peas, right?

These guys are certainly 2 groovy little dudes!

LOVE - Veggie Style

I decided to do this one based on the news of Japan.
I thought about it today when I did not get some good news I had really hoped for.
Then I felt bad, being so selfish when Japan is in such a crisis.

All I can do is keep them in my thoughts and prayers and that is just what I will keep on doing.

ROCK & ROLL - Veggie Style

This is just a fun card! I thought that it was a good finish.

Those Peas are such good sports!

Hopefully you can see that having a set like these, you really can make anything you can dream up!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Make sure you wear your green, we don't want you to get any pinches today!
I am having so much fun with the new doilies from Cheery Lynn Designs. For my most recent LO I grabbed the English Tea Party doily die, cut out the center circle, opened it up and ruffled it around my large circle. It really looks like pretty black lace!

I will be the first to say that I do not like pastel colors too much. So I used some bolder colors for this LO of my new nephew and you know what?...it works! No "baby" colors needed. :)

Here is my complete list of dies used for this project:

Little Stacker Nesting Die - Circles
Buttons3 die
Optimistic Font Alphabet Dies
Mantel Decorations
Embossed Loves Me, Loves Me Not Border die
Hearts1 die

Check out The Scrappiest blog to see how you can win a few besutiful doily dies of your own!

More Fun with Texture

3:30 AM 4 Comments
For my card today, I wanted to use my new Blacked Eyed Susans embossing plate from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I decided to also use my Core'dinations Black Magic color core paper. This is such fun paper, black on the outside and a wide range of colors on the inside.  I chose a rich butter color that I associate with black-eyed susans.  So with the black side up, I embossed the card stock then took my Core'dinations Sand It Gadget and sanded the paper so the yellow core appeared.  Too cool!

Because the embossing plate is so large, 5 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, I was able to create a background for a 6" square card.  Using my Potted Flowers Die, I created these great flowers, dry embossing the back to give them some roundness.  I added some texture to the centers with my Large Circle Stitcher plate, again sanding the top to let the yellow show through.  I die cut the leaves using Large Dimensional Leaves 2, adding a bit of Black Soot Distress ink to the edges.  Using my Oval Silver Stackers and a piece of green core Black Magic paper, I die cut the oval panel, adding texture with my Large Oval Stitcher plate and again sanding the paper to let the green show through.  I backed this with a green panel cut with my coordinating Large Scallop Oval Stackers die.  To create the corner pieces, I die cut a circle using my Little Stackers Circle die, adding texture with my stitcher plate and sanding so the yellow shows through.  I then cut it into quarters and used one for each of the corners.  The last step was to find an image that would work with all of this, lol, backwards I know but I was having fun with all the textures.  I decided on this very vintage digi image from Sugar Nellie called Grace Standing.  Isn't she adorable?  I sized and printed her onto Cryogen paper and colored her with Copics:
Grace - E000, E00
Eyes- B12
Hair - E11
Coat - G40, YR21
Dress, Stockings and Bow - YR20, YR21
Socks - G40
Shoes - W1
The last step was to add some Gold pearl accents with my Viva Decor Pearl pen.  Finished size is 6" square.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will try some texture in your life.
